It's pretty stupid to acknowledge the accomplishments of cheaters to put them on a pedistal as "one of the greatest of all time".

Unless you like pretending that the cheating either didn't happen or didn't matter.

It doesn't seem stupid to me.

Clemens (and thousands of others) tried to cheat. Clemens was one of the greatest of all time.

The same two sentences also apply to Willie Mays.

And Hank Aaron.

Not to mention Gaylord Perry.

Mays, Aaron and Perry chemically enhanced their bodies with steroids?

That's news to me.

Mays and Aaron chemically enhanced their bodies with a different performance enhancer.

Unless you're saying that cheating by using one form of illegal performance enhancing drugs is ok but cheating using a different kind of illegal performance enhancing drug isn't.

That would be a great argument if they'd been testing everyone when those guys were playing...
"Show me the failed test" seems to be good enough in this thread.

Clemens never failed a test nor has he ever admitted to it.

Clemens/Gordon = clean

I think there is significant evidence (beyond "he was good" or "he was big") that Clemens used. That said, if he isn't the greatest pitcher of all time, he's in the top 2 or 3. Even if we acknowledge that he used steroids.
Seems it wasn't "significant" enough.

Clean as a whistle as far as I'm concerned.

Nobody cares about the Royals, not worth defending your thread.

That's fine if the majority don't care about the Royals.  Don't post in it.  Don't click on it.  Plenty of threads.  And easy to start new ones.  Is it really a problem to want to not have a Royals thread turned into Hank Aaron, Steroids, WAR, Tim Raines or Kenny Lofton chatter?  It's not unreasonalbe I would think.  Especially when the arguments are as worn out as these are.

David Lough for Danny Valencia.... not quite the #2 starter they were expecting for him
