Baseball turned a blind eye to steroids and HGH because it made the game more exciting to the average fan. They specifically came out and banned them as performance enhancers in 2005 even though they technically became outlawed by baseballs rules in 1989 when they were put on the US illegal drug schedule. Baseball never specifically banned stimulants. The government did because of the health risks involved with using them.
Stimulants are specifically banned by the joint drug agreement.

So why is coffee allowed?

Er caffeine that should say.

Are you arguing that amphetamines aren't specifically banned?
12/19/2013 12:23 AM
No, I'm arguing that stimulants aren't banned, only certain ones....ones that have been scheduled I II or III by the Feds. If stimulants were banned, caffeine would be on the list.

Ok but Mays and Aaron admitted to using amphetamines. Which are both performance enhancing and illegal. In my opinion, that's no different than guys who used steroids.

So legal stimulants are ok, even though they are performance enhancing as well? Performance enhancing in your eyes.

And Aaron admitted to using them once, said he thought he was having a heart attack, and didn't use them again.

And that was in 68 before they were banned.

There are legal supplements that aid in muscle building. They are legal but steroids aren't. The rules may be arbitrary but they are the rules.

The way I see it, if you get caught breaking them you have to deal with whatever the agreed upon punishment is. But that doesn't disqualify you from the Hall of Fame or prevent you from being considered an all time great.

And if Clemens said, "yeah, I used steroids once but I didn't like the way they made me feel," you'd believe him?

The legal supplements don't improve eyesight as HGH does or reflexes as steroids do.

Fair enough

I think, as always, we will just have to agree to disagree. I have my opinion, you have yours...neither will probably change. No use going any further.

Can't believe I let myself get caught up in this...again. I blame the cold meds.
