Gold Glover Jeter, Best SS Evah!!!, robbed of MVP Topic

Not necessarily including Mike, incidentally...

But there are a bunch of them who seem to think he's basically the second incarnation of the Babe, at least in terms of impact.  Which is ridiculous.

Glad you added that.

I defend Jeter because he's "my guy" and the hater's hate is a bit more than necessary.  I recognize his defensive shortcomings(although I don't think they're as great as the haters make them out to be) but, for almost all of the last 20 seasons, you could plug him into the 2 spot and get .300 with 180+ hits.   And he played on teams that won so it's much easier to live with a batted ball that makes you say "How in the hell did that get thru?"

LOL.

3. Hank Aaron+ (23) 3771 R
4. Stan Musial+ (22) 3630 L
5. Tris Speaker+ (22) 3514 L
6. Cap Anson+ (27) 3435 R
7. Derek Jeter (20, 40) 3434 R
8. Honus Wagner+ (21) 3420 R
9. Carl Yastrzemski+ (23) 3419 L
10. Paul Molitor+ (21) 3319 R

If you want to say "overrated", go ahead.   I disagree but to each his own.    But if you want to say "If Jeter was in another city he would be just another guy", you know nothing about baseball.   Good luck with that.
In another city, say Texas, he'd deserve to be in the Hall of Fame but would not really be famous. In fact, Yankee fans would probably scoff at someone suggesting he should be elected. Like Beltre.

True.

Yeah, Beltre = Jeter.

LOL.

Yeah, it's probably Beltre > Jeter.

Beltre > Jeter

Nobody said they were equal.

Yet Jeter is a no-brainer, likely first ballot HOF selection.

Beltre requires a discussion.

Weird, huh?  Why is that?

LOLer that Beltre > Jeter.

Put your slide rule back in your pocket protector and accept that baseball isn't played on a stat sheet.

Because perception and reality aren't always the same.

Wait...

Isn't your statement what you called "circular reasoning" in a disparaging manner a week ago?

I am a life-long Yankee fan and I have no problem at all saying Beltre has been a better player than Jeter.  More power, better defender.....

That said, it's not a total blowout either.  Jeter has had great speed (Beltre really has none) and Jeter has those "intangibles" that help make him great, to go along with the 3500+ hits.

Consistency can be inconvenient when your arguments are retarded to begin with.

Jeter is not the best SS ever. He was never robbed of a MVP because he never deserved one in the first place. Also when i see a below average fielder have 5 GG it tells me either there is way to much love for this guy or they are f****** blind.
