Last year was terrible. Time to begin the road to redemption!

4 hits today moves him to a total of 2432, 110th All-Time, breaking a tie with Kenny Lofton.

2012 Update:

Jeter n/a
Pudge       -156
Vizquel      -159
Arod          -225
Damon     -277
Chipper n/a
Vlad           -410
Ichiro         -566
Abreu         -616
Tejada       -638

My 2 cents:

Pudge and Vizquel are still maybe(s) given their age, specialty and desire for 3k, I am not counting them out yet. But both IMO will fall short.
Arod, yeah...
Damon is a pro hitter, but given his gypsy syndrome and Boras as his agent, it does NOT look good. But I put him on the same level as Pudge/Vizquel.
Chipper is a 2012 retiree.
Vlad is out of gas.
Abreu is almost on fumes, but too far out.
Tejada is even further out of gas........

Which brings me to Ichiro (and our topic). 566 short of 3k at 38 AND out of the leadoff spot? 566 may equate to almost 4 full seasons?
What he has going for him is the owner of the Mariners is Japanese, a fan AND waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too wealthy. He very well may mandate it?

I think Ichiro is po'd at last year and will rebound. I bet he wants to hit 3k here in the US and then go back to Japan for a season or 2?

BTW, next in line............
Helton, Thome, Carlos Lee, Puljuice (2073), M.Young (2061).

Nope, nope, nope, probably and close...

Ichiro hits 3rd now...

May Update

102nd All-Time passed Mark Grace, Dwight Evans, Red Schroedenist, Jim Rice, Lloyd Waner, Ozzie Smith, and Bill Dahlen.

35 Hits this season, 3rd in the AL. Tied with Josh Hamilton, 1 behind David Ortiz, and 11 behind Jeter.

2012 PreSeason Update:

Pudge       -156  RETIRED, not happening
Vizquel      -159 Still plugging along...
Arod          -225  Meh...
Damon     -277 See Vizquel
Vlad           -410 Man w/o a job....?
Ichiro         -566
Abreu         -616 Man reduced to PH / part-time.....nope.
Tejada       -638 See Vlad

So, from my "last" original list Omar and Jonny move slowly. Arod due to his $ obligations will get there and Ichiro will be hampered hitting out of the 3 hole.
I know he's not a leadoff guy. But 2 or 6 would be better for his pursuit. IMO.

Gonna add Puljuice and Michael Young on an official update in June...
Ahh the road to 3k. Is it too soon to add Starlin Castro....?

Ichiro, making 18$ this year, has 39h in 33gp.
He has 2467h.
On current pace will collect @160 more.

Putting him at @2630 or so at season's end.

That may leave him @370 short or 2 seasons... So what does he sign for in the off-season? The Mariners owner is about 100 years old, rich and Japanese. So, I'll go out on a limb and MANDATE an Ichiro signing.

My 2 cents is he signs for 2yrs @22-24 w/ a team-player split option for a 3rdyr.

Update:

Vizquel     2843
Arod          2813
Damon     2731
Vlad          2590 and just signed
Ichiro        2473

Vizquel and Damon are not hitting well, but at least Damon will get his pa's.
It looks as if Vizquel will be going the Pudge route. I can't see him playing 2 MORE seasons?

Ichiro started off hot, but has cooled considerably. Has he settled into a .290 hitter?
Strange stat after 160pa's Ichiro is hitting @.340 on the road and @.240 at home?
5/17/2012 4:05 PM
In his last 160 games, he's something like .270/.310/.340.  Maybe the Mariners would still sign him for a good amount of money, but I can't see anyone else doing it.
