A-Rod has not been a top 20 player all-time in NY.   Yankee fans don't give a **** what he did in SEA/TEX.    I'm quite sure a Dodger fan has no idea who's earned what in NY.    Stick to WAR.  Even though you don't know how it works, you did sound smarter then.
Maybe you shouldn't give an opinion on this topic? Just a couple posts up you refer to Jeter as just "a guy who played baseball at one time."

I've already how A-Rod fails miserably when compared to Jeter in NY.

Do I need to use smaller words?

20th sounds about right, actually.  And he's 9th in WAR as a Yankee.

1996-2000.   Yanks played 13 post-season series and won 4 WS.   Jeter played well in 9 of them.
2004-2011.   Yanks played 11 post-season series and won 1 WS.  A-Rod played well in 3 of them.

People remember that.
This is your Yankee WAR.

Seriously, I know jtpops is gonna pop in and say "SEE?  YANKEE FANS THINK THEY'RE ENTITLED TO POST-SEASON PLAY!!!"  That's not the case but it is expected.   And that's where players make their mark in Yankee lore.   Jeter was part of the greatest post-season in in recent Yankee history and he was a centerpiece.   A-Rod is part of a disappointing post-season run and he's a centerpiece(maybe he shouldn't be).

People (and their memories) are dumb. What actually happened is the only thing that is relevant.

Well, that's a pretty stupid statement seeing that perception is reality.

I counted 6.

And obviously, Jeter is definitely top-10, maybe top-5.  I'm comparing A-Rod to someone who is a better Yankee.

But perception isn't reality. You can perceive Arod as a giant POS in the 2004 ALCS, but in reality he was better in the 2004 ALCS than Jeter.

Arod was actually pretty good in that series. The Yankees lost despite his performance not because of it.

I think someone mentioned 1-12 in the last 3 games of that series.  When the Yanks needed him to step up big, he came up small.  Reality.

Anyway, this got away from the point.

I, like many others, think "******* A-Rod" when he fails.    I'm not sure that's fair but it is what it is.   I think he earned it earlier in his career and now, maybe, it's just a kneejerk reaction.

Mike, you arent in this series if it wasn't for the guy who went 1 for 12 the last 3 games.  You might not be up 3-0 in the series if it wasn't for him.  Someone else on the $200M payroll needs to step up from time to time.  Not everything is A-Rod's fault.

It was 8 years ago.   A-Rod's first big chance to show the world he had what it takes.  Up 3-1, he had the spotlight.   And it beat him down.

Everyone knows one player doesn't win or lose a series.  But, when one fails in the big moment, he gets labeled.

Most hitters fail in big moments.  But you remember A-Rod's more than others.  When he succeeds, we forget about it.  Up 3-0, he had the spotlight.  He homered.

A-Rod's fault.
