A-Rod to Cubs? Topic

There is some value, no idea what it is and I'm sure it would vary from team to team, if he can close the gap on Bonds.
I doubt anyone makes the deal assuming that's a given at this point, and even if does, the contract gets more expensive as a result due to the hefty bonuses for milestone HRs on the way.

30 teams don't have to agree on the value of A-Rod.  As you know, it only takes one to make a deal.

And I do find it funny that Jeter was done, without question, about 15 months ago at the same age.    Different types of players but I don't know that we should close the door on A-Rod's career just yet.
It's certainly not a given that he's at his current ceiling - sure, he could bounce back.  But we're talking about people making a deal for him and what they'd be willing to pay, and I can't imagine anyone making a deal assuming that he's going to get better.

This is 100% true, which is why I said stranger things have happened.

Actually, it takes two to make a deal.

I'll add that his departure seems to be a forgone conclusion because Girardi is "divorcing" himself from A-Rod with the PH/benching.   I don't think it is.   When he opted out of his other deal, it was assumed he'd never be back.

Sometimes.  I'll give you an example.

I'm gonna tell you to STFU, deal?

Cool, STFU.

Wasn't the "story" that Boras opted out of the previous deal?

No!  I decline.

See?  It takes two to deal.

I think it's far from a done deal that he's gone, but I think that's more because of the difficulties in moving him than a lack of desire to do so on the part of the Yankees.

You can't renege on the deal.  It's already been consummated.

YE spelt Miami wrong!
10/18/2012 5:30 PM
Miami has no reason to take A-Rod and A-Rod has no reason to go to Miami.
10/18/2012 5:49 PM
Any chance of Soriano for ARod? Yanks could use Soriano in LF/DH, they get a bit of salary relief in terms of years, and a (slightly) younger player that doesn't seem to be declining as fast.

Could be.  I haven't heard who was involved but the Cubs hate Soriano.
