Hopefully Team Canada adopts a No Brewer policy for the next WBC.

They should try a "Get to the second round policy" next time.

It's hard when you have idiots like Dempster who think Sux camp is more important than the WBC. Even Victorino got the hell out of there for a few weeks while he had the chance.

Or idiots like Martin who accept the invite on the condition they can switch to a completely new position that's not even remotely related to the one they currently play.

Or idiots like Bedard who think...well, I don't know what Bedard was thinking. It's not like he's in high demand.

Isnt idiots and Canadians synonyms?

The good news is Taillon should be in top form for the next WBC. And there are enough American pitchers that he should fall back to the Canucks again.

I actually agree with Dempster - spring training with his new team is more important than the WBC. Especially if you're working on things, and aren't really for competitive baseball yet.

At the end of the day, the WBC is a glorified exhibition. Your job is to pitch MLB.

Doesnt Canada have to qualify again? Dont count your eggs before they hatch.

Nah, Mexico finished last.

Not according to the ESPN standings.

So is the tiebreaker head to head or run differential? I cannot fathom why head to head wouldnt be the first tie breaker but why list Mexico ahead of Canada then?

Is it even run differential?

Last WBC (or maybe 2006?), the tiebreaker was Runs For. Which would put Canada ahead of Mexico as well.

Canada beat Mexico.  Head to head.

ESPN's standings are wrong: http://web.worldbaseballclassic.com/wbc/2013/pools_and_venues/index.jsp?round=poolD

First tie-break is head to head.  If H2H doesn't work (would have to be a 3 team tie), it's runs scored/offensive innings - runs allowed/defensive innings.

Is it hockey? No? Who cares.
