Mike Trout turned 22 yesterday. Topic

Didn't he just say "Your'e not right"?   Hasn't your argument been that he is more valuable?

I know he didn't out and out say it but can't you figure it out?

I'm assuming it's adjusted to the park and league...I see it's ranked by wRC+.

He's damn good.  I'm assuming Ted Williams would smack the **** out of whoever put this post up and then insist Trout go fight in Afghanistan for a couple years.
...and then he would spit on everyone else in this thread.

...and nobody is valuable if they are playing golf on October 1st.

Does not matter anyway.  Angels suck too bad for Trout to ever get the MVP, no matter what kind of season he has.

You don't think trout was more valuable?
No, I don't.  I would take Miggy over Trout in 2012, 2013, and probably for 2014 as well.

Oh well. I think Cabrera has been better this year, but Trout was better last year.

Oh I see. You have no argument. Good game, bis.
I think I pretty much proved why Cabrera was more valuable last season.

BTW- because the Angels had a modestly better record does not make them a better team than Detroit either.  Did they play the same schedule and opponents?
8/9/2013 6:39 PM
No, they played a tougher schedule, FWIW...

Based on BBR's calculations, LAA's opponents in 2012 were 0.2 runs per game better than average.  Detroit's opponents were exactly average.  Initially I was just spitballing based on the fact that 2 of LA's 3 divisional opponents were playoff teams with 90+ wins, while only one of Detroit's divisional opponents was above .500 and the other 3 were 18, 26, and 30 games below.

I'm actually surprised it was this close.

And since we're really not concerned about SOS but opponents' pitching quality, Oakland was second in the AL in team ERA in 2012, Seattle was 4th, and Texas was 7th.  The White Sox were 9th, Royals 10th, and Twins and Indians the worst-pitching teams in the AL.  So every one of LA's divisional opponents pitched better than any one of Detroit's.

Again, I would have voted for Cabrera myself.  But SOS is not a good argument for either Cabrera over Trout or Detroit over the LAA.

Yup. Again, if the argument is DERRR TRIPLE CROWN there's no changing most of those people's minds. By this logic, if a couple of Trouts liners for outs fell for hits, Miggy is suddenly much less valuable. Or if Triple Crown meant runs, BA and homers.

And again, BL, there are people who look at the award as "most valuable to their team" which would mean, yes, Avila was more valuable than Trout. They won't vote for a non playoff contender because the guy who helps his team make the playoffs is more valuable to his respective team than the other player.
