No it matters. Would you ever take 25 instead of 50?

Why does it matter? If anything, if I have 50 pieces of green paper that does nothing for me, I'd rather you take 25 of them from me.  Less clutter.

Let's say burnsy has $75, and he's in a generous mood.  He decides that he's going to give $50 to me, and $25 to bad_luck.

What value does my $50 have to BL?  Does it have more value to him than the $25 he was given?

If we voted for most valuable gift, would you vote for the $50 or the $25?

You're being intentionally obtuse.

I'm absolutely not.  You say it matters, and I'm asking you why.

Good question.  I guess that depends, right?

Let's assume I was a multi-millionairre, and you were living from meal to meal?

Which would be the more valuable gift?  The $50 given to the multi-millionairre, or the $25 given to the guy who might otherwise go hungry tonight?

The value of the gift doesn't change either way.

And anyway, the poor person is getting the $50 and the rich person is getting the $25 (if we're keeping the analogy accurate).

There is a HUGE difference in the relative value of each gift.

It's a pity you can't understand that.

Relative value and actual value are not the same thing.

What do BBWAA votes put more weight on WRT MVP voting?

Hence my criticism of the BBWAA. They are a bunch of fucktards.

And you're not?

HA!  GOOD ONE!!!!

Well this was a fun read.  It's just the word Valuable that causes all the problems, since people interpret it to mean very different things.

Valuable = best overall player = Trout
Valuable = best hitter = Cabrera
Valuable = best statistical offensive season = Cabrera/maybe some love for Chris Davis
Valuable = best player on playoff team = Cabrera
Valuable = best production per salary = Trout ($510,000 versus $21,000,000 for Miggy and $3,300,000 for Davis)
and so on...

Personally, I weigh the production per salary more than most people would, so for me Trout comes out ahead since he was probably the best all-around player in the league this year, too.  If I had a vote, it would have gone to him.  I'd give the Hank Aaron to Cabrera though.
