A moment of trivia Topic

Just posted this on the chat page of one of my SLB leagues, but I thought I'd share because this stuff is fun.

Of course, the problem with internet trivia, especially a question this basic, is that it is easily researched.

If you care to challenge yourself, try to answer without looking it up. If you look it up, please don't answer. -1 internet points if you do.

Really, it doesn't matter. But who are you trying to impress?

OK here goes:

The top 8 spots in Times on Base in a single season (since 1900) belong to 3 guys. This is not the trivia question. It's too easy. Everyone knows it's Ruth, Bonds and Williams.

The question is, who is tied for the next spot. Heck, I'll even tell you one. It's Lou Gehrig. Not surprising. The answer I'm looking for is the guy who is tied with Gehrig and Bonds for the 8th spot. He also holds the next spot (11th).

PS There will be a part two to this question.

Mantle's top season is 1957, with 319 Times on Base, good for 42nd all-time.

Tris Speaker? Rogers Hornsby? It's not some pre-1900s schmuck nobody remembers, is it?

This is post-1900 only. It would be less interesting otherwise.

Speaker - 1920 - 316 - 50th all-time
Hornsby - 1924 - 318 - 45th all-time
Cobb - 1915 - 336 - THE NEXT ONE AFTER THE ONE WE'RE LOOKING FOR!!!

Helton? Rickey? Foxx?

I'll guess Wade Boggs.  He got a lot of hits, and drew a lot of walks.  Also played in 162 game seasons, so that helps as well.

I've got a second name in mind if Boggs is incorrect, but I'll wait to see if Boggs is right or wrong.
