He said that he had trouble feeling the ball, and didn't want to hit anybody.

We should be commending him for his altruistic intentions,.

I find this hysterical.

Yankees fan "Everyone does it!"

Go back to spygate...."Patriots are cheating bastards!".

You do realize that there are somewhat the same.  Everyone does it, PINEda and Belicheck were just dumb enough to be blatant about it.

Like what EVERYONE is saying (even everyone in the Red Sox organization), don't be so ******* stupid about it.  I mean, the game is on national television, and his last start, vs the same team, he got busted.  I mean, put a small amount on the heel of your glove....or bill of your hat.  TRY AND HIDE IT!!!

Moron deserves the 10 days.  Should be more for how stupid he was.

Hard to disagree with much of that.

However, every ex-pitcher talking head says "Yeah, it's commonplace when it's cold."   If that's the case, do something with the rule.   You obviously don't want anyone going out there with a gob on their person but put a damn stick of it behind the mound or something.

Before Lester got noticed during the World Series and people started talking about it, I don't think the general public knew that this was commonplace and accepted by the players, even though technically against the rules.  I know that I certainly didn't.

The two Pineda incidents, and especially this last one, has brought this out front and center.

I think MLB has to address it now, somehow.  If even the hitters are condoning it, and some of the comments that I heard over the past couple of days is that they WANT the pitchers to be able to properly grip the ball, my guess is that the rule will be relaxed or modified in the near future, possibly even within the season
