Those are the numbers at the moment.
That doesn't look like a HOF yet.

So....
Averaging 150 hits and 24 home runs a year makes you a HOF if you just do enough times?

I'm just asking how many have been able to do that for 21 years?

I'm guessing it's a very short list.

How about you list all the 3000 hit "compilers" who AREN'T in the Hall of Fame.

Shouldn't take very long.
No.
You're right.
Only 2
Palmiero
Biggio
And Brock shouldn't be

And IF he ever gets there ... Neither should Beltre

What's that have to do with being a HOF?

You're minimizing his accomplishments by calling him a compiler as if it's easy to average 24 home runs and 150 hits a year for 21 years. If it's no big deal, it seems like a lot of guys would be able to just compile 500 home runs and 3000 hits.

If there are a lot of guys that have done it then, yes, you're right, he doesn't belong.

On the other hand, if only a few have done it, then it probably isn't easy and shouldn't be used as an argument against Beltre's induction.

So, I ask again, how many guys have been able to compile 150 hits and 24 home runs a year for 21 years?

I don't know
But I probably wouldn't consider any of them a HOF
7/23/2014 9:46 PM
Plus
I never said it was no big deal
You think he's a HOF
I don't believe so
The more your argument goes to 150 hits and 24 homers a year
The more I think I'm right

Also, you're counting his age 19 season where he got 195 at bats as a season. It's more like 500 home runs and 3000 hits over 20 seasons.

*assuming he gets to those milestones in the next 4 seasons. I'd say that's a long shot, especially regarding the home runs, where he may never get to 500. But still, only 7 guys have 3000 hits and 450 home runs, so it should be a slam dunk,

Really? Dave Winfield's a lock in my mind and his averages would be worse than Beltre's if Beltre gets to 500/3000.
7/23/2014 9:50 PM
So....
It's exactly 150 hits a year and 25 hrs
My mistake
7/23/2014 9:51 PM
When I saw Dave Winfield play, I said HOF
Didn't need numbers
7/23/2014 9:52 PM
And if the title of this thread was Dave Winfield
It wouldn't be 5 pages long
7/23/2014 9:53 PM
Here's the list of guys with 450/3000

Hank Aaron
Willie Mays
Eddie Murray
Stan Musial
Rafael Palmeiro
Dave Winfield
Carl Yastrzemski

If you add Beltre to that list in 2018ish, I don't see how he doesn't get in. Especially when you consider the fact that he's been a great defensive 3rd baseman on top of the offense.
