No plaque.  Interactive button with a lit up display definitely.

That's fair.   Give one to Pete Rose too.   And, if the 'roiders never get in, they can have one also.

what about Curt Flood as historically important?
Just like Tommy John or Jose Canseco for being the steroid whistle blower?

Tommy would have to share his button with the good doctor.

Jose would definitely get a display.  40/40,  World Series Slam, homer off Flanagan in the Skydome.  Rookie of the year, MVP, Steroids.  Madonna.  Bash Brothers. Whistle Blower.  Ball off the head.  Blow's out his arm pitching mop up.  General Buffoonery.

Not a bad idea actually.  I might have a problem with the fifth best catcher getting in over the fifth best centerfielder, but I could live with it I think.

Curt Flood is historically important.   I don't think his stats carry him into a HOF.   I might give him a plaque and an interactive button though.
Fair Enough...just out of curiosity....do you think Marvin Miller belongs in the HOF?

He does.   He may never make it, at least not in my lifetime, but he had a massive influence on baseball.

As did the aforementioned Jose Canseco.    I'm sure 'roids would have found their way into the game eventually but he seems to be the start of widespread use.

Ron Blomberg.

Ron Blomberg.
you're kidding, right? That was a manager filling out a line-up card and needing to write a name in the spot + the schedule-maker having that be the first game of the day.
8/1/2014 10:11 AM
If there was ever a DH section, Blomberg would get a button.     He's not as signficant as Flood, Miller, Canseco but he does have a spot in history.

Tom House? Pedro Borbon? Marv Throneberry?

Mike,
I know this is a baseball forum, but what about qb Kurt Warner for nfl HOF ?
8/1/2014 5:02 PM
Probably not.   He had three careers.  Couldn't beat out the great Trent Green but went apeshit when Green got hurt for phase 1.   Initially you think it's the system but Cutler couldn't play under Martz.   Looked like a clown in NY and had 3 rather unremarkable seasons in AZ for phase 2.   Then finished strong in his last 2 in AZ.   Dome guy?   System guy?  Good QB?   Beats me.   But it wouldn't be outrageous to put him in.

Warner gets in.

2 MVPs and a Superbowl MVP.  33rd in career yards and 31th in TD's.  8th in QB rating.  Dominate for 6 seasons.
