I don't disagree with that, but as BL has been saying, and I think you know, BBR WAR is based exclusively on real run prevention.  It doesn't care how you got to the ERA you had, it just looks at what that was.  And certainly over that sample size a few runs is within error.

I'm anti-WAR (as well as anti-war), because I think it's a useless stat. There are many more meaningful ways to compare players.

If I placed any real value on comparing the value of a hitter to the value of a pitcher, then I might refer to WAR. I can't think of any other value it has. In a Strat-O-Matic league I'm in, one member prepared for the draft by making a list of the players' WAR ratings. What a mistake. The results of his draft were not good.
