Anyone who watched baseball during Larry Walker's career knows he doesn't belong in the HOF.  Just like Alan Trammell.

The list of position players with 70+ WAR who are eligible but not in the Hall of Fame is very, very short:

Bagwell
Palmeiro
Grich
Trammell
Walker
Bonds
Whitaker
Dahlen

Yeah, like this.  What was the point of this post if not to imply that there is (or should be) a correlation of high career WAR totals and the HOF?

Unless he's campaigning to put "Bad Bill" Dahlen in the Hall.

Well somebody is championing Bill Dahlen for the HOF.

They must have seen his WAR.

If he had been more durable and actually played full seasons it would be a different discussion.  4 seasons with over 130 games played?  Averaged about 110 games a year?  Meh.
He had 10 seasons with at least 130 games played. What Larry Walker are you looking at?
Ooops, was looking at a different set of stats.

Dumbass?

Yeah Taint, how dare you admit when you make a mistake. Don't you know it's better to spend the next 6 pages of posts and 10 days trying to argue why you were right anyway?

What's your point?
"WAR is useful in Hall of Fame evaluations."

I mean, I guess you could interpret that as, "WAR is the only thing that should be considered." But that isn't what I'm saying.

Colorado Rockies players are receiving similar treatment to the PED crew.  It's like they cheated by playing at Coors Field or something...

Next year, I'd expect several hold over candidates to get elected with no automatic 1st year candidates.  Manny ain't getting elected because of multiple failed drug tests.  Pudge has PED rumors.  Vladimir Guerrero has the best chance but isn't quite the automatic 1st ballot player voters like.  Posada will get support from the biased NY writers.

Assuming Griffey, Bagwell, Piazza, and Raines get elected this year, the 2017 HOF class could look like this:
  • Trevor Hoffman
  • Edgar Martinez
  • Curt Schilling
  • Mike Mussina

2017 could be the year Bonds & Clemens finally get their plaque!
