Hanley sucks anyway. Let him go be fat at first and give Holt a chance to start. No problem.

That's not Pablo?

Pretty sure it is.

Pablo ate Hanley?

Apparently

I didn't think it was that complicated:

1) Hanley ? bench. Or cleaning up the ballpark after the games.
2) Fat Pablo ? first
3) Brock Holt ? third

Ok, the forums have a character insertion panel. I put in arrows. And the very same forums don't display the arrows...

I don't know, as bad as Hanley was at the plate last season, Pablo was worse. At least you could squint at Hanley's numbers and maybe point to the low BABIP and above average LD rate and think that it might turn around. Especially if he's healthy now after being injured in 2015. Holt isn't exactly a long term solution, either.

Hmmm, what was Pablo's WAR?

I think they were both negative 1 or 2, depending on whether you use BR or FG.

The sweat you see on the right side of his head is from that 1st throw that he is making... and it smells like bacon.

I believe in Pablo's track record. Until 2015, he was a steady producer for many years. He's also several years younger. I think once he adjusts better to playing pepper with the Monster, he can produce at an above-average level (or maybe average relative to 1B) for at least a few years. Hanley has been so inconsistent since his injury troubles started, sometimes great, but with cold stretches even in his good years in 2013 and 2014. Pablo just has a lot less bad healthy months on his resume, which makes me feel better about his ability to turn it around (unless he has an undisclosed injury, which has been a problem in the past).

That said, I do have to admit that Pablo's motivation to be the best player he can be has always been questionable, and showing up out of shape is definitely not encouraging on that front. And being talented but not working hard is NOT a narrative that's going to go over well in New England. Not anywhere, but that's a bad spot.
