OK, congrats on your win. You've bored me into submission. Rizzuto is the SS standard. A lot of SS got screwed out of the HOF.

Rizzuto isn't the standard. Neither is Jim Rice.

We agree on this.

Your words?

"Yes, the standard is all Hall of Famers, that is correct."

Seriously, previous page. Not 2012.

Like the Donald, PSBL doesn't like when you use his own words against him.

Those were your words. I was agreeing with you.

What I mean by it is that the standard for evaluating a candidate for the Hall is to look at how he compares to the Hall as a whole (at least for his position).

He doesn't get in by being better than just the worst of his position (Rizzuto in your example, Rice in mine).

In this case, Sheffield compares well to the other right fielders already in. He's not as good as Aaron or Ruth, but if that were the standard, the Hall would be a tiny fraction of the size that it is.

So you didn't post this?

"Yes, the standard is all Hall of Famers, that is correct."

Then the standard is all Hall of Famers.

Every SS better than Rizzuto has a case. Start making them. Because you like to make cases.

How many times do I have to repeat that that isn't what I mean?

If your argument is that anyone better than the worst player in the Hall at their position should get in, I disagree.

Am I supposed to be able to read your mind? I read your words. Do you not understand the meaning of some of the words you use?

You clearly are not reading what I wrote.

I bet I wouldn't miss Winfield or Clemente in the HOF. Kaline either but he's old school so I'm not as comfortable throwing them out.
Kaline was one of those milestone guys.

3000 hits
was 1 homer away from being the first guy ever with 3000 hits and 400 homers
was a .300 career hitter until his last, age 39 year, that dropped him below.
not to mention all those gold gloves
