DOLPHINS WIN IN SURPRISE BEHIND AUER, 24-14
There is nothing,in the first game of the tournament, like a upset. The Dolphins did that behind RB Joe Auer's 85 total yards and a touchdown. The Dolphin's passing game was surprisingly good, with the combined passing stats of John Stofa and Dick Wood going like this: 15/25, 149 yards, 3 TD, 0 Int. WR Bo Roberson put in a good effort with 3 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. For the Niners, RB Ken Williard had 117 total yards, and QB John Brodie went 17/25 with 196 yards, a TD and a interception. The Dolphins were up 14-0 after the 1st quarter and the Niners couldn't catch up.

OILERS PULL AMAZING UPSET;DEFENSE SHUTS OUT RAIDERS, 17-0
Wow. Some things can only be described as, wow. 2 upsets in as many games. Bucky Richardson to Webster Slaughter will survive. Richardson went 15/29 with 261 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions. Slaughter had 5 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. The Raiders never could get a passing or running game going, as Marc Wilson passed for 112 yards and Kenny King ran for only 30. The Oilers go 18 1st downs and the Raiders had 8. The Oilers had 334 total yards to the Raiders 167. The Oilers got 3 sacks, held the ball for 10 more minutes than the Raiders, and held the Raiders to 1.9 yards/rush. The Oilers got 7 in the 1st, 3 in the second, and 7 in the 4th. The Raiders were never out of the game until the 4th.
1994 Houston Oilers 2-14           1981 Oakland Raiders 7-9

'82 BEARS PULL OFF 3RD STRAIGHT UPSET WITH WIN OVER '54 BEARS, 24-14
A game of Bears. Someone must get hurt. The '54 Bears got hurt. As expected, Walter Payton had a exellent game, with 99 total yards and 2 touchdowns. The '82 Bears won despite Jim McMahon's bad game with 130 yards, 2 interceptions, and only one touchdown, and 9 completions out of 22. For the '54 Bears, the recieving duo of Harlon Hill and Bill McColl was nice. The pair combined for 134 yards on 7 receptions and 2 touchdowns. George Blanda had a better game than McMahon's, but still pretty bad: 11/28, 168 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. Ed Sprinkle of the '54 Bears defense had a interception and  sack. The '82 Bears put up 24 unanswered points until the 4th quarter when the '54 Bears pulled of two straight touchdowns.
1954 Chicago Bears 8-4               1982 Chicago Bears 3-6

BEARS PULL OFF VICTORY IN OVERTIME, 26-20
In a world of upsets, the team that does not win in a upset, wins in overtime. That proved correct in this game. First off, Khalil Bell had a exellent game. For a backup running back. 39 total yards, but 2 touchdowns? Jay Cutler had a Jay Cutler-like game, 17/28, 187 yards, 1 interception. At least Cutler had a rushing touchdown. RB Lorenzo Hampton of the Dolphins had 39 yards and a touchdown. Dan Marino was exiting, 19/27, 212 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. On the Recieving side, Mark Clayton and Fred Banks had a combined 99 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Bears D was amazing, with 3 interceptions and 4 sacks. The game was exiting. The Dolphins had a 20-10 lead at the half, then the Bears came back. Bell had a 10 yard TD run, then with 1:49 remaining Robbie Gould nailed a 29 yard field goal. And after a 44 yard drive, Who else? Bell rushed for a 9 yard touchdown to win in OT.
2011 Chicago Bears 8-8                    1988 Miami Dolphins 6-10

TEXANS WIN THRILLER, 27-24
There have been plenty of thrillers so far in this tournament. The last 2 games have been fantastic. On the Texans side, RB Jack Spikes put up a absolutely amazing performance, with 97 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cotton Davidson did his share, 8/14 with 167 yards, 2 TD and 1 interception. His favorite target was Max Boydston, who had 90 yards, but when you put Boydston and Chris Burford's numbers together, you get 6 rec. for 144 yards and 2 TD's. For the Baltimore Colts, RB Jerry Hill had 76 yards and a TD. Johnny Unitas went 23/36 with 240 yards and 2 TD's. Sounds nice, right? He also had 2 interceptions. 1st quarter: 14-7 Texans. 2nd quarter: 14-0 Baltimore. 3rd Quarter: 7-0 Texans. That puts us at a 21-21 tie. Jim Martin hit a 24 yard field goal to put Baltimore up by 3. The Texans had to punt next, ditto to Baltimore. Texans ball at they're own 35.  Abner Haynes got 2 runs for  total of 23 yards. Then, Boydston with a 15 yard catch. Now they had the ball at the Baltimore 27. Davidson completed a pass to Burford, who... SCORES! Baltimore couldn't catch up.

STEELERS CRUSH NINERS, 41-0
Some games are close, some are not. This one was not. On the Steeler's side, everyone had a good game. Here are the highlights: Franco Harris's 143 yards on the ground, and 20 in the air, John Stallworth's 170 yards and 2 touchdowns on 7 catches, and finally, Terry Bradshaw's 20/30 with 304 yards, 4 TD's and 0 interceptions and a 139.4 passer rating! Everyone was horrible for the Niners, led by Y.A. Tittle, who was HORRIBLE with only 38 yards, and a interception, and a 20.6 passer rating. They had a combined 78 rushing yards, and 109 total yards. A comparison: 49ers: 7 1st downs, 109 yards, 16:44 time of posession. Steelers: 31 1st downs, 550 yards, 43:36 time of possesion. Get who's the better team? Got it? Good.

FALCONS BEAT BEARS IN SCORING SENSATION, 52-23
Sometimes you can not be traditional. This game was not in traditional Bears fashion.  RB Maurice Smith was a beast for the Falcons. 161 yards, 2 TD's? A beast. Not to be left out, Jamal Anderson had 71 yards and a TD. The 2 combined for 50 recieving yards, also. Chris Chandler had a roller coaster ride of a game. 14/21, 223 yards, 4 TD's sound like a good game but he had 3 interceptions, and a 101.9 passer rating. Terrance Mathis had 40 recieving yards and a TD. Shawn Jefferson had 39 yards and a TD. Tony Martin had 23 yards, but 2 TD's. Brian Finneran and Alge Crumpler also made solid contributions. Patrick Kerney had 2 sacks. The Bears could never get a great running game going, and the passing game faltered, as Ed Brown went 8/25 with 82 yards, a TD and 2 Interceptions. George Blanda went 3/7 with 59 yards and a TD. Brown had a 22.4 passer rating, Blanda 112.5. Receiver Harlon Hill had 48 yards and 2 TD's. Bill George had 2 sacks and Ken Gorgal had 2 interceptions. The game was close at the half, 24-16 Falcons, but the Falcons pulled away in the 2nd half. The Falcons and Bears were consistant through all 4 quarters: The Falcons had 14 in the 1st, 10 in the 2nd, 14 in the 3rd, and 14 in the 4th. The Bears had 7 in the 1st, 9 in the 2nd, 7 in the 3rd, and none in the 4th.

FALCONS FLY TO 20-12 VICTORY
3 teams had 2 years of teams in the 1st bracket. They were the 49ers with 2, Bears with 4, and Falcons with 2. They're combined record? 3-4. the other's combined record? 5-4. That should tell me something, but I don't know what. Haskel Stanback had 72 rushing yards, 23 receiving yards, and 2 TD's. Scott Hunter went 10 for 16, with 160 yards, a TD, and a 116.7 passer rating. That's about it. Dave Krieg had 17 completions on 27 attempts, 174 yards, a interception, and a 66.0 Passer rating. That's it for stars for today, folks. Seattle had 4 sacks and a safety. Not a very exiting game. Stats for this bracket and preview for the next coming soon.
