Week 17 Topic

I don't ever remember so much being at stake in the final week of an NFL season.

4 playoff spots are still up for grabs, with 10 different teams fighting for them. And excluding Denver and Seattle, 6 teams still have a shot at a first-round bye.

Why exclude Seattle? They aren't guaranteed a first round bye.

You're right. So excluding Denver, 7 teams still have a shot at a first round bye.

Seems like most the games are lopsided matchups. GB-CHI is the most intriguing. I think the Bears win that one.

The ATL-CAR game concerns me and could be a big upset.

There's a confusing AFC #6 seed battle going on, but I think whoever wins will be crushed by Cincy anyway.

Dallas - Philly

Meh, I think Eagles curb stomp them.

The odd thing is there is no "win and you're in" scenario in the AFC. All 4 teams going for the final WC spot could win and still be eliminated

Ed Reed delivers the backbreaking INT to Miami. Is he still on Baltimore's payroll?

Panthers lost so many of those types of the games the last few years, by playing uber conservative at the end of games. Got lucky when the Falcons snapped it with Matt Ryan not ready and got a 15 yard loss that pretty much ended the game.

Niners should have tanked today once they saw Seattle and NO blowing out their games. They finished 5th and now have to head to Lambeau to face a healthy Aaron Rodgers, while the Saints will get the Eagles or Cowboys. Tough go for San Fran.

Do you think Harbaugh is afraid of GB and Rodgers?
12/29/2013 8:42 PM
I doubt he's afraid of anyone. But I'd much rather be going to Dallas/Philly, than GB in January, especially with a healthy Rodgers.
12/29/2013 9:28 PM
but by that scenario, you get Seattle in round 2 instead of Carolina. I would prefer GB/Carolina to Philly and @ Seattle.

Cowboys . . .different QB, same result.

Tanking in an effort to pick your opponent = bad idea in general.

Leaving that aside, the Packers were a minute away from losing that game, which was going on at the same time.  Even if I thought that Philly was a better option for them than GB (and I don't know that I buy it), they easily could have tanked themselves away from a date with the Bears.
