Retires today at the age of 86.

489-138-11 all time which makes him the record holder for most wins.

Coached using his list of "no's" and was the head coach on his high school team as a 16 year old.

I was a jr in school and at the game when he broke the record (409) for wins in 2003 and went on to win a national title.

If you dont know much about him and his style check it out.

Seemed like a very cool coach to play for to, didn't yell, no conditioning, just a bunch of favorable setups for a fat guy lol...if I was a coach I'd like to think I'd be like Gags

I took his football theory class as a senior. It was more of a life lessons class. However the starting center was in the class. Someone asked why they dont condition.

He had the center stand up, asked him "Jimmy, when is the last time you ran a 50 yard sprint in a game?"

kid says "never"

"So then why would we run 50 yard sprints to condition our selves? We run 100 plays a day in practice full speed, come Saturday we should be able to do 75."

And that was that. Makes sense too.
