I've tabulated the highest career WAR stats by position by letter below (per baseball-reference.com). A couple of the letters have been combined so that they can better compete (letters i, u & z are not used). If a player played multiple positions, they were generally assigned to their predominant position (based on games played).  This will be a 16 team league.

Join up and you will randomly be assigned one of the letters (or letter combinations) by random.org.  I'll ask someone to roll my letter. Your roster must include each player listed for your letter  Fill the remaining 14 slots with any player whose last name starts with your drawn number.  Simple enough. Enjoy and good luck!

I can always use another player as a catcher but Deacon White is listed as C in the W group yet he does not have a Catcher  season in the database and he is not really useful as a backup player.  Can I substitute Rick Wilkins as my W catcher in this case?

Hmmm, looks like his catcher seasons were all pre-sim.  Well, Butch Wynegar is the next catcher on the list for W so you can swap Deacon out for Wynegar if you'd like and then draft Wilkins as one of your other players.
