Boyhood Heroes Twist League - waitlisting Topic

Remember that team you rooted for and lived and died with back in the day?  This league will pay homage to those teams that, regardless of the standings, had you poring over boxscores and listening to your transistor radios late into the night.

Take any team by year that you followed back when you were a kid... say, up to age 17.  For me it was the 1969 Seattle Pilots, who stayed for one not so glorious season in my hometown when I was 13.  My Dad took us to about half a dozen games that year including the Yankee game with the famous brawl chronicled in Jim Bouton's Ball Four.

Then, twist any player who appeared on the roster according to Baseballreference.com... for those new to the twist, that means you can draft any season for your roster players.

FREE AGENT OPTION - You will be allowed ONE Free Agent from any other team from that season (no twisting) provided their salary is not higher than your highest hitter's salary if you select a hitter, or your highest pitcher's salary if you select a pitcher.

Teams will be exclusive by year.

If you choose to draft a Free Agent, then he must be from the same year as your roster team... example: I could have one player from 1969 from any team that year, provided they met the salary requirement.  I added "no twisting" to the Free Agent rule.

Gonna go with the "Worst Team Money Can Buy," the 1993 New York Mets. Not going to be a lot of non-twists on this baby.

Welcome celticus, alleyviper & tjefferson.

I'm going to make a switch to the first team I ever watched.  I was only five years old and didn't really understand what was happening, but I knew it wasn't good:  The 1964 Phillies.

That was a tough season for the Phils... change noted.
