Round 2 - 110M Draft - MLB103153 Topic

I don't understand what I would have gained by waiting for the 5th or 6th round.  As I said, it only cost me $56K to get rid of him.  Here's a question, would it be worth $469K (669-200) to get rid of Pedro Martinez?

"In other words, does the 86 Maddux help your team picking him this early?"
No $200K player is any help.
So very, very wrong.

Let's say you take the $670K Pedro with your next pick.  You now have spent almost $1M on two questionable pitchers (which isn't the end of the world).  However, unless you're planning to field an entire roster of platoon players, your bench of 5 to 6 positional players will probably be a minimum of $4M to $5M now (6 x 700K approx. since you now can't draft anyone lower than $670Kish).

It seems to me that the more "cookies" and elite players who always do well in WIS (and we all know who they are) that we eliminate in early rounds, the more level the playing field will be.  This would tend to make the league more competitive.

i was actually surprised that peoeple with the top picks are blocking players especially pitchers as you all have a chance to draft some of these players. if you think about the round someone like Maddux would go in, it favors those with the top picks as it will be an odd number round. Also i'm glad some owners are blocking cookies. i hate playing in open leagues because that's all it is. And some owners just put out the same team over and over again. to me that's not fun  i like doing the research and finding players that are rarely used. Schwarze does a good job with the themes in this tournament, making them challenging to draft players and eliminating a team of all cookies. although you won't see me blocking any players as i do see value in 200k players, i'm glad others are.

All this is what makes WIS, and particularly draft leagues, fun; differing opinions.  We will see more player blockages as this goes on and it is going to be exciting.

I am going to go ahead and use my pick to block the great career of SS Tim Foli (1977, $235,490)

Drat.  Hoisted on my own petard.

And, just when everyone is trying to wrap their heads around a draft league uninfluenced by Tim Foli, the proverbial other shoe drops...

SS Dick Schofield (1983, $200,000)
