In this age of 170 IP starting pitchers and 51 IP setup A relievers, it's not reasonable to tell someone to have a 25 man roster. No major league team comes close to this.
After our auction any unowned player would have been up for bidding at least 3-4 times without getting a single bid. These will be the worsiest of the worst. It's no big gift to allow them as roster fillers, especially if they can't resign them in case one does blossom unexpectedly.
It could of course be argued that team's should have saved an extra $ 8 for their minor leaguers, and making an example of them might be a good lesson, but I would really rather avoid the 16-146 records that will come with 25 man rosters.
