Lawrie will go to second place bidder as werewolf went over budget. It might take a while to figure who that is.
Sorry about that guys, I really didn't expect to win all three of those players but I'll happily take my first choice in this auction for a starting pitcher and closer in Kershaw and Kimbrel both at age 24 and full of many more bad *** innings

Noser, when games start will we be able to carry more than 25 players on our active roster? I'm trying to figure out my PA and IP needs

11/8/2012 7:21 AM
ive wondered this too...aka, are we going to have you pick AAA or are we stuck with the 25 we choose and the others are just reserve players?
11/8/2012 8:54 AM
I think he said 33 players, so 8 in AAA.
11/8/2012 9:02 AM
Maximum roster is 40

25 + 8 AAA = 33 active and up to 7 reserve.

So we should all be okay with ip and ab's.

What happens to the teams that use their $1000 on only 25 players. I guess they will have no AAA. Or they should be able to trade some of their players to expand their roster. We are probably going to need some time between the end of the draft and the start of our season in order to enable these roster adjustments

That was a question journey asked way before the draft started.

After the auction is completely over there will be a free agent signing period so each team can fill their minor league right.

My thinking is these free agent signings should be "restricted free agents" which means used only to fill the eight minor league slots. In October they will go back into the next auction and will not be available to be resigned by the team which signed them as free agents.

1. Admin will allow teams to field "up to" 8 AAA. You could have a team with 0-8 AAA players, and allow them to compete in the league.
2. Nobody should get anything for free. These restricted free agents need to cost $1 per player. At least, that was my understanding ;-)

I agree with Chris. You spend your $1000 on 25 players then no RFA players for you.  Part of the fun to this is to learn how to budget your bankroll.

I have bid a total of $6,228 on 199 different players. I have been awarded 6. I must be a cheap bastard.

In this age of 170 IP starting pitchers and 51 IP setup A relievers, it's not reasonable to tell someone to have a 25 man roster. No major league team comes close to this.

After our auction any unowned player would have been up for bidding at least 3-4 times without getting a single bid.  These will be the worsiest of the worst.  It's no big gift to allow them as roster fillers, especially if they can't resign them in case one does blossom unexpectedly.

It could of course be argued that team's should have saved an extra $ 8 for their minor leaguers, and making an example of them might be a good lesson, but I would really rather avoid the 16-146 records that will come with 25 man rosters.
