Silent Auction Draft v2 - Category Selection Topic

Looks like we're down to two categories dedicated solely to outfielders.

Yep, but there are other hitting categories that have a decent number of OFs represented.  I thought about swtiching my ".350+ infielders" back to ".360+ hitters" (including OFs), but I will wait and see what lampdogg selects.

Will we have a day or two to do some research once the categories are in before we have to submit our bids?

Yes, no hurry

Since lampdogg added a pitching category, I went back to my original category (.360 hitters), in order to include a few more OF's.  Now Barry Bonds is back in play.

We're currently waiting for admin to set up our league as a progressive so we can get our own forum.  Once we get the forum and get all the category threads create, people can make tweaks to the categories, although I think we are pretty balanced.

Some of the categories I was playing around with and would've liked to include...

--> Players (hitters and pitchers) with last name = Ruth
Babe only has 21 seasons, but Dick Ruthven would've been included and would've made this a legal category.  Would've been fun to see when the pitching versions of Babe got taken.

--> Low IP stud starting pitchers (typically used as relievers in the sim world)
Pos = SP, IP/162 = 0 to 150, Whip = 0 to 0.95, IP/G = 4+
Everybody's favorite cookies, including Milacki, Blue, Carlos, Ramsey, Pedro, J.R, etc.

--> 300-K Pitchers with <400 IPs
This list includes a couple of Walter Johnsons, all the way down to some high-whip Nolan Ryans.

--> As far as single-season teams go, I was thinking along the lines of 1906 Chicago ballclubs (Cubs/White Sox)...
Three Finger, Ed Walsh, etc...

--> $4M Part-Time Hitters
PA/162 = 0 to 425, Min Salary = $4 million
Besides Ted Williams' .407 season, you have Pudge's .347 A+ arm, Matt Williams 23 HRs in 319 AB with B/A+ defense, McGwire's.746 Slug.  Lajoie .376.  This would
be a great catgeory to fill in those missing plate appearances.

--> RP, IP = 83 to 83, BB/9 = 1.5 to 3.0
I always found it amazing that Eric Gagne pitched exaclty 83 innings in 2002, 2003 and 2004.  Plus I would like to see Gagne's 03 year represented.

I had a similar idea about low inning stud SPs. It would be interesting to see how much people would bid for a guy who does not give them a full season.

I want to change my category after seeing the high quality of submissions.. hopefully this will be better.

Walk and Run
BB/100 PA = 17+
SBA/100 SBO = 38+

Total Players = 24

What was you rprevious category? Was it the fast full time HOFs? That category seems to have disappeared.

dhomard replace his 19th century catchers, which was no longer needed when the other catcher category was introduced.  The Fast Full Time HOFs was replaced last night.

the category I went back and forth on...last name = Ripken.  Cal's last few years and Billy's god awful numbers as a UTI IF gave that category a huge dropoff effect.  I decided in the end that there just wasn't enough variance at the top of the category to achieve what I was looking for.

Hadn't seen or heard anything in a few days... just double-checking we're still waiting on admin and I hadn't missed the forum or something...

We're waiting for flyingman too.  he is going to create the threads, regardless of which forum we end up using.  He said Tuesday at the earliest.  I will work on my bids tonight and send out a template to use tomorrow.
