One of the long running staples of this theme is keeping the divisions as closely aligned to real life as possible. 

So I would have to decline any request to move teams unless there were solid reasons (owner have two teams).

This looks like a really cool idea. I am trying to follow what teams have been spoken for. If there is no name next to the team does that mean it's open? I would like the Tigers if so.
