Another great member of the forums was "The Mayor" - TUMH20_BOPS.  Also, I'm not sure if he still does it or not but CLK0619 used to make up an entire league of his own teams, just to try different things and (I believe) try to set unbeatable records.

clk wasn't about records - he'd sitemail Admin to tell them to disqualify his teams from record consideration, as he was just trying out theories.  He wasn't as helpul day-in-day-out as johngpf (as an example), but when he spoke it was with the voice of AUTHORITY.

I know The Mayor had some pretty serious health problems, Juicester.  He got back into it maybe a year or so ago with a few teams, but I haven't seen him on here since.  He and I used to chat every few days a few years ago.  The Taint used to have pretty solid contact with him.  The Mayor...what a character!

I think CLK was the first to use Long A strategy...'85 Clarkson days...

Then it evolved into Maddux and it got rediculous.

He'd scour a few 100IP guys to send out there for an inning or two, then bring in the hammer. This was I believe before normalization was in play...Back then, fatigue wasn't nearly as big a problem, you could use a guy like Clarkson just about every game without difficulty...

Long A predates me, barely.  I joined a month before the update that corrected the Long A strategy, so I waited until the update to enter my first full-season team.  I did enjoy - and feast on - the 1894 Pitcher strategy.  I won a couple OLs and even a Theme League at $80 mil with less than $12 mil spent on pitching - and I think Johngpf was the one who found that loophole.  Oh, those were the days ...

mensu, doctor - I have to assume all y'all are Left Coast?

It was fun...My favorite moment was making it to a TOC final after being down 3-1 and 3-2 in a couple of series, then sending out '87 McDowell for Game 7, he took a no-no into extra innings, we won 1-0 in 11 or 12 innings...

I am not in need of getting up early, a light day tomorrow...not that it matters, we are talking sim forums here, important stuff....

Oh yeah, $12 mil on pitching with McDowell and Milacki in AAA all season and then starting every other game in the playoffs with a $70 million offense.

Yeah, mensu's a Hilltopper...

Oh, Doc - so sorry about the Blues ... NOT!

Although truth be told, I'm a Sharks man.  the Kings are my #2 team, though.
