Many of the movies I might have listed are already named, but there are a couple I might add:
   Good Will Hunting
   Scent of a Woman
   I can't get into Bond, and the old Eastwood movies have gotten, well, old.
   Hearts in Atlantis
   And, of course, the WIS forums

The wife and I were just talking about this the other night.  As soon as I read the thread title, the first film that immediately came to mind was "The Shawshank Redemption."  Can't believe it wasn't one of the first ones mentioned in the thread.  Good job FINN!

I'm Not There (if you love Dylan), Children of Men, Dazed and Confused, Ivan's Childhood, Le Samourai, High Low, Branded to Kill, Stalker (only 133 cuts in a three hour movie), Tree of Life, and Kiss me Deadly which I am gonna watch right now!
