HS Free Throw Percentages into Grade Form Topic

I believe Iguana had it posted that translated free throw percentages to grades. It was in a guide to HD that used to be pinned up. Attempted a search for it with no luck. Appreciate the help.

There is a folder under Hoops Dynasty called "Critical News."  Click the first hoops dynasty in the path at the top of the thread to get to the main directory, then click the critical news. I scrolled through the compilation of important (if outdated) HD info to find the FT chart...

ETA: Iguana's chart was determining IQ letter grades based upon practice minutes. This porkpower chart is what you were looking for I think.

Ah, slight mix up. Thanks for finding it.

I use 3 points for every FT grade.
I've never seen the overlapping of grades that porkpower shows.

I have used porkpowers list when scouting in recruiting, and when the players arrive on campus, it is correct about 80% to 90% of the time.

do you guys have any references as to how much a player is going to improve his ft shooting based on potential? is blue greater than a full letter grade and black is 1/3-1 full letter grade or something like that?

I'm conservative with blue FT potential, and project 2 partial letter grades, updating as the grade progresses.  So I'll project a D- player as a D+.  The most improvement I've seen is two full letter grades, from C- to A-.  For average potential, I project one partial grade and that's usually about right.

I have a guy still average at B- who started with an F so more than two letters is possible however extremely unlikely.

Anyone have any reasons why FT% would be greatly under these charts? My D3 team CMHMS greatly underperformed last season and is starting again this season. If a C average converts into 65-70%, leaning toward 70% as a C in grades equals, last season my team had 10 of 20 games shooting under 62% FT with most of those 10 being in the 50% range, and I'm starting off this season averaging 59% with 4 of 5 games around 50% FT shooting, team average a C with 5 of 12 athletes at B- or C+ and the worst is a freshman at D+ but green potential. Confused...........is it nothing, is it minutes, is it my anomaly, is it ______?

first things to consider are

1. who is taking the free throws - focus on their grades specifically and consider whether the results still look abberational (averaging in a strong FT shooter who doesnt get to the line, is a possible distortion)
2. small sample - even a season is a small sample and results should vary
3. fatigue - I have often wondered but have not gathered data - I think, assume that a tired player has worse FT percentage
