How much can WE improve in 1 year? Topic

If you start a freshman from day 1, how high can his WE get by the end of that year?  By the end of his soph year?  By the end of his junior year?

I started Anthony Bryant(Lynchburg) in all but like 2 games in the regular season and he went from a 20 WE to a 25 in one year....

Does previous WE affect how much it goes up?  Say a 20 WE guy and a 70 WE both start the same amount of games, would the 70 WE guy's WE improve more?

I have two freshman starting for my NC State team and one is up 5 and the other is up 7 through 20 games, but I promised minutes and starts, so I'm not sure what impact that has on how WE improves.

Depends where the starting WE is. I had a 15 WE guy go up to a 20. A 50 WE go to 57.

This is a really interesting question.  In looking at my players I really don't see any pattern to WE growth, but I am not a statistician.  I would assume there is some reason behind the growth, but I can't find anything at first glance.

I've seen WE increase 10 in one year in rare instances.  it happens when it's close to 50, i.e. from 45 to 55.  most players (i.e. WEs between 30 and 70 or so) will see a WE jump of around 8 if they start every game.

I think the rate of WE growth does tie into the current WE.  Those with extreme high WE and those with extreme low WE don't see as many points of WE gained when compared to players with average WE getting the same minutes.

Generally starting every game and playing about 25 minutes will see an avg WE improve somewhere around 7-8 points during a season.  If you start the season at 95 WE (obviously he can't improve 8 points) but you may only see 1-2 points.  A WE around 20 may only see 5-6 points over the season.

Playing time matters the most for WE growth. And from my experience, players with extremely low WE grow slower than players with normal WE.

Under ideal circumstances (starting, playing lots of minutes,  having a WE over 30)  I would bet on 4, be happy with 6 and do a jig if it went over 8.

Doesn't rate of WE growth depend in part upon the "He appears to be a below average/average/above average student on the court and in the classroom" sort of message you get in scouting visits? I've always been under the impression that it did... [Edit: This is in addition to other factors already mentioned like starts, minutes, etc.]

I thought those responses told you about possible IQ improvement and GPA, not WE.  I could be wrong though (I usually am).

I agree that they speak to IQ and GPA, but thought WE was also part of what was included in that assessment.

And for the OP -- I've got a freshman in Iba that began with a WE of 36, has started 23 of 25 games and averaged a smidge over 20 mpg so far. He's gained six points of WE. At that rate of gain, I figure he'll bump at least one more before the end of the conference tournament most likely.

Most I have ever gained was +9 WE, when I was doing a massive rebuild from C-. Started all my FR and ran them to the ground:

Some minutes to go around with the WE gain up top:

As you can see, Choquette played more minutes, but gained less WE than Bowers. I'm pretty sure that base WE is the reason.

Andrew Waltz was recruited with a 10 WE.

Freshman year - 28/31 starts, 18.9 MPG, gained 3 points in WE to 13.
Sophomore year - 28/29 starts, 25.2 MPG, gained 4 points WE to 17.

I feel pretty confident saying that current WE impacts the development of WE.
