What would it be a difference in practicing 15 -20 minutes on a formation? I currently practice 20 but woud it be a big difference in dropping it to 15 minutes and how much does the player IQ really matter? Thanks for your help and advice.

15 minutes will take you from F to C/C+ in one season

15 minutes for three seasons will take you from F to B+/A-over 4 seasons.

Does this mean you want to get a teams IQ higher over individual growth is more beneficial for winning?

IQ matters, but I think this is somewhat being debated with the experiment that robotdevil is conducting on how high you really need to be. Its possible that an A might not be worth it depending on how many ratings points you are giving up in skill areas. This is still an ongoing experiment though and having an F or D- IQ that he has is proving to make success somewhat difficult

Like much of this game - and life - there are choices to be made.  Better IQ is better,  but how much skill development you give up is a question.

It really has to depend on your team.  For example, do you have guys with tons of potential - maybe you want to invest more in skills.  Or, if you have talented recruits without that much potential to improve - that cuts toward working on IQ.  What if you are about to graduate 5 or 6 guys ....that can cut in different ways.

Are you working on a new offense or defense along with the system you run, that matters.....lots of factors.

I spend between 15 and 25 mins on each of offense and defense, usually 20-25.  Now, these days I am only in DI with reasonably good teams - I think that IQ is an important way to try to be better than the other guy........but that doesnt mean that you should follow that approach.

diminishing returns at how many minutes?

some think over 20, some think over 25, some think there may be tiny tiny reduced effect at every increase - most folks are comfortable that below 25 there is no significant diminished return

Yeah .. I think that what most would say is that at higher than 25 you can probably put the minutes somewhere else that has good potential and get more growth for 5 minutes there than going to from 25-30 minutes.

Of course, sometimes 3 more points in PER is more important than 6 more points in BLK and you might decide to go ahead and use 30 in PER even though you might get more points using those 5 minutes in another area. It depends on what you need and how fast you need it.
