Seven of the eight #1 regional seeds have advanced to the Elite Eight.  Among the teams mentioned here, only Drury is still alive

In DII, the #1 seeds are the hosts for the regionals. Once they've made the Elite Eight, they play on a neutral court.  West Liberty is ranked #1; Drury has the longest winning streak at 20 games; W. Washington is trying to become the first repeat champion in 20 years.

The only repeat winners have been Evansville in 1959-60; Evansville again in 1964-65; Kentucky Wesleyan in 1968-69; and California Bakersfield; in 1993-94.  Evansville won each of it's tiltles on it's home court.  Evansville was the annual host for the tournament for many years.

Metropolitan St. and Drury going at it in the D2 Championships - grats, Al! - My D1 Bracket is totally busted, but watching the Florida vs FGSU game, Joakim Noah definitely should have won the most hated b-ball players bracket

DII national championship going on right now on ABC if anyone is interested

edit: Drury wins in one of the best endings I've ever seen.  Metro misses two shots under the basket to lose the game.

For another amazing finish, the best I've seen, go to youtube and search for Barton basketball.  The final 45 seconds of their 2007 championship game vs. Winona State, winner of 57 straight, will give you goosebumps.
