851 overall D3 player! Topic

I have played WIS for a pretty good amount of time and I have never seen something like this.

He would start on my D1 Louisville squad...

I don't even know where to start with game planning for this one. Has anyone had a higher rated D3 player?

This illustrates my only real beef with the game engine. There is no way this guy shouldn't be able to average over 30 a game, efficiently in D3. If he was on my A+ UNC team he'd have the 2nd highest distro on the team. Seeing 8-25 and 9-25 games back to back for this guy is just something would never happen. This is like Lebron playing in the ACC.

Don't disagree km, but for those of us around the MIAC at or near Devean George's time at Augsburg, I can say that even NBA players have off games against D3 players. George probably wouldn't have had those ratings (better rebounder and shot blocker, but less per). But even he only averaged 27 ppg on like 50+% shooting.

Especially when you're jacking up that many 3s, you're bound to be moderately inconsistent.

That said, I agree with your overall point.

WOW. this represents one of my beefs too - how much luck there is in high/highs. but that dude is amazing, hes unreal for d2, not to mention d3...

If anyone is curious, here's what he looked like as a recruit.  He was considering a D2 sim until I took him away from long distance on signing day.  I was shocked no one else went after him, but I had no idea about high/highs.  Obviously informing of RS was huge to get him to reach all the potential.  He was "only" 772 at the end of his 2nd season.

562 overall, edit: he was a JUCO-JR

Ath = 82
Spd = 52
Reb = 1
Def = 62
Blk = 11
LP = 15
Per = 42
BH = 41
P = 51
WE = 77
ST = 62
Dur = 66
FT = 67.5

You signed a 562 overall freshman at D3, from long distance? How is that possible? Was he on your D3 list?
5/24/2013 11:21 AM
Yes, I too wonder how that is possible. Even if the guy were close to your location, I wonder why he would consider you over a DII team. I've never had anyone that high rated overall be willing to even consider me at DIII even when there was zero competition and the guy was in close range.

JR Juco

Edited to clarify that he was a JUCO.  I think 515-520 overall is the highest FR I've seen go to D3.

Okay that explains it - amazing he had that many high/highs.

I've seen one other player similar to this guy, aejones had a guy that was over 800 rated with sick cores and it was the same situation, 2 year juco that he got a RS on. I remember being at WVU at the time in Tark and thinking I would have had that guy on my team in a heartbeat. Actually I think right around the same time there was somebody who had a similar player in a different world.

If he just had some more LP, he would have a shot at getting drafted.  Anybody ever seen a D-3 player get drafted?

Devean George was the last D3 player to get drafted in the real world, but there is some scuttlebutt that this kid AJ Matthews from SUNY-Farmingdale might get drafted this year.

His LP is plenty to get drafted, it's the passing that's a concern.

It's amazing how favorable he compares to my 923 rated PG who was the #1 PG in his class. The only major gap between the two is passing.

I was actually wondering about whether he could get drafted.  I've never heard of a D3 player drafted in HD, but it seems like he's good enough.  Obviously he's listed at PG, but he's really more of a SG with that 51 Passing.  I'm not that familiar with the draft..would it consider that he's a SG or just count him as a PG with 51 Passing?

fwiw he still has avg potential in LP, probably about 10 more points he could've gained.  Everything else was within a point or two of max.  Just not quite enough practice time to go around.
