The guys that own and rep these sites are all pretty good guys. (at least for the major sites)
I've worked with dev stuff for 2 of them and they really are great. IMO, there are 3 levels of sites out there... the low tier are sites that are breaking in but don't really have the backing and player base to be successful and old sites that didn't keep up with the breakneck pace of the changes in the industyr. The middle tier (Draft Day, Fantasy Feud, Joust) that have the right kind of leadership and good focus, but for someone reason, can't consistently generate the elite level games on a day to day basis. Then finally the top tier (Fan Duel, Draftstreet and maybe DraftKings), who have the best advertising, great leadership, excellent customer service, ease of use and top flight features.
I've read more and more about Fan Throwdown, but I haven't played on the site yet.
Having been there for the poker boom, I'd make some comparisons like this, in terms of their environment and company focus (final site outcomes not withstanding):
Fan Duel = Party Poker
Draftstreet = Pokerstars
DraftKings = Full Tilt
