Only if you let it be.

I was going to say I don't play online, only at casinos (home games tend to cause too many problems in my experience).

I used to live half an hour from a casino, and I got special poker promotions because I was among the top 100 people with the most hours on the felt each calendar year. Now I live about two hours from the nearest casino and have far more on my plate. HD is easier by comparison - no driving long distance, no being away from home for hours at a time just to do it - just get online and go.

I think most of the guys here have a similar mentality and many of the interests also lineup well with poker.  I was one of the first few on FTP before it exploded on the scene.  A lot of nights playing with some great players there and learning.  I got way too invested in the game though.  With all of that said, the hours that I used to spend on HD were redirected to new ventures over the last few years.  If numbers, sports and money are all a passion, then you should be playing DFS right now.  The industry is blowing up and it's 100% legal.  A weekend of boredom were I threw $50 into an account awhile back has netted me well over $20k of supplemental income.  It's no aejones action, but I find it to be quite profitable and enjoyable.  I haven't been active since March due to work/school commitments, as each of the last few years I've taken off Apr-Jun, but I'll be picking up again soon.  I'm sure many of you are starting to hear about it and I'd be more than willing to introduce you to it and share my thoughts.  I rarely (once every few months) read the HD forum, so your best option for communication with me is via private message.

Aejones I went to butler also, brad Stevens is the man. I understand your hatred for duke, I was at that national championship game. I thought for sure Gordon Hayward's half court shot was going to bank in

What would you say is the best website? The first one that came up from Google is FanDuel

I know a handful of people who own DFS sites. I am not really convinced it's the "future" but I can definitely see there being money to be made there for guys who are good. I personally don't really enjoy it, I like long term keeper leagues better.

DraftDay is one that is owned by people who got their start in online poker. There are a few others as well, but that is the one whose owners I'm most familiar with.

The guys that own and rep these sites are all pretty good guys.  (at least for the major sites)

I've worked with dev stuff for 2 of them and they really are great.  IMO, there are 3 levels of sites out there... the low tier are sites that are breaking in but don't really have the backing and player base to be successful and old sites that didn't keep up with the breakneck pace of the changes in the industyr.  The middle tier (Draft Day, Fantasy Feud, Joust) that have the right kind of leadership and good focus, but for someone reason, can't consistently generate the elite level games on a day to day basis.  Then finally the top tier (Fan Duel, Draftstreet and maybe DraftKings), who have the best advertising, great leadership, excellent customer service, ease of use and top flight features.

I've read more and more about Fan Throwdown, but I haven't played on the site yet.

Having been there for the poker boom, I'd make some comparisons like this, in terms of their environment and company focus (final site outcomes not withstanding):
Fan Duel = Party Poker
Draftstreet = Pokerstars
DraftKings = Full Tilt

To answer generally... for entry level play and to get your feet wet...
10-20 player 50/50 games on Fan Duel is likely to produce the highest rates of success when getting started.  Understand that there is a TON of strategy that goes into it and you won't throw some money on a site and instantly turn a profit.  But with dedication, learning, etc... there is a such an huge opportunity to be successful right now.

I remember when FTP first launched and the fish started to swim in, I was still in the rudimentary stages of understanding the math behind poker and with that, I was still light years ahead of the joe blows that were shooting their wads waiting for gut shots all night, just to get that 1 gratifying feeling of an unlikely win.  :-)
