is triangle/zone the worst off/def combo or is it? Topic

Block gets averaged as well. If your small forward has a low block number it could hurt your post defenders in a 2-3.

I run triangle/ zone and last season I was 3rd in pts per game allowed in d3 howeve if it was adjusted for strength of schedule I would be much worse

This is my first time running this combo. Can you guys help me set up my distro for my Florida Gulf Coast team? And how do you determine your distro? Thanks in advance! http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/TeamProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=6420

I am aware this team is not very talented as far as defense and scoring. That is something I will work on in my future recruiting classes.

Are you sure about the block rating being averaged?  I just had a guy graduate with a 100 rating in blocking that led the nation in blocks 2 years in a row (running zone) at 2.3+ blocks per game.  He played the 5...my 4 (65 blocking rating) averaged less than a block a game.  Maybe I'm looking at it incorrectly but to me, if the ratings were truly averaged I wouldn't expect big discrepancies in blocks per game between players over a season.

No, I am not sure.   Was your team block total high?  I think the game decides if there is a block and then assigns the block to a defender based on some proportional equation.

bk, this is what I would do based on what I learned from this thread.  PG Kirchoff, Maynard;  SG Balke, Repetowski;  SF Ammons, Scott;  PF Tan, Murphy;  C Hart, Balling.  Play a 2-3 because Ammons has good reb and better LP def.  Distro:  Balke (10) +1, Maynard off bench +1 (8), Ammons (0), Scott off bench (4), Kirchoff (4) 0 3pt, Tan (3), and Murphy (2).

I would play Ammons, Hart and Balling as a three man rotation at the 4 and 5.   Murphy would third on my depth chart at both the 4 and 5.

I would maybe start Kirchoff and Maynard.  Bring Balke off the bench with high distro.  Didn't see Balke's horrible Def.  Maynard and Kirchoff like 8 distro each and Balke, off bench, at 10-12.

i don't think block ratings are averaged but getting many blocks depends on where the offense is attacking. This compounded with individual ATH, SB and IQ ratings determines how high the probability of a block being generated.  This is my opinion based on what I've noticed running zone. I could be wrong.

In a zone defense, are block ratings averaged like defense in the interior defensive equation.

I was under the assumption that all defensive components were averaged (ATH, DEF, BLK, IQ). Is this not the case?

I think the overall defensive ratings (as composed of ATH, DEF, SPD, and BLK) are averaged, rather than having individual components averaged.

Based on the understanding I have of the engine, a missed shot being a block is probably determined AFTER the fact that the shot was missed is determined.  The block is probably similar to an assist - window dressing, but it alludes to the contribution to team defense of the block skill in the same way that assists allude to an extent to the contribution to team shooting % from a passing skill.

Can't figure out my team.  Lost to the #1 team in country by 5, then lose to 2 SIMS who weren't as good.  Started 5-1 and know am 5-4.  Getting frustrated with this team.  Just wondering if I should change off/def.  My team is not great I know, so please no "your team sucks" comments

No.  Just need to recruit for it.  Ran that exact combo at Portland and loved it.

Chris,

Can you give some more detail about what context you're talking about? You mean the impact of shot blocking on opponent shooting? Or do you mean when a player actually blocks a shot?
6/11/2013 6:35 PM Trentonjoe
Both. But more the impact on opponents fg%
6/12/2013 8:20 AM Customer Support
Shot blocking is one part of a player's defensive ability, which is then averaged when playing a zone.
