aubietom   so texas tech and DePaul are too close together in the same world according to WIS. 1145 miles according to the internet.

thanks M- I think I am settled in at DePaul. WIS removed me initially saying DePaul was 'only' 945 miles from Texas Tech. I showed them my research that indicated it was 1150 miles away. They countered that my numbers were if you were driving and ...

...they use "as the crow flies". No, I am not making this up.

I always assumed that 1000 mile rule was as the crow flies just like all recruiting distances.  Surprising, but guess I learned something.

I confess, I thought there were meaningful missteps in the implementation of the 1000 mile rule - but going with driving distance is a surprise.

How is mileage calculated for recruiting? Is it driving distance or as the crow flies? Because whatever it is for recruiting purposes, it should also be the same way for the 1,000 mile rule. Keep your standards consistent.

it's the crow

god those guys really **** me off. told me straight up it was as the crow flies, i once wanted to pick up a team 980 miles as the crow flies, like 1200 driving distance... they said no.

I am confused, what is the problem? I would assume the 1,000 mile rules as the crow flies.

Yeah ditto. Miles in recruiting follow the same pattern don't they?

They do but this guy technically got to keep a school within the 1,000 mile limit because WIS used driving distance instead of "as the crow flies". The problem is the guy is in violation of the 1000 mile limit. Wonder what navy has to say about this one?

To clarify: The distance requirement is, and has always been, based on straight-line distance (i.e. "as the crow flies"), not on driving distance.

In this case, wareagletom and aubietom were allowed to stay within 1000 miles because there was a claim that the two accounts were run by related, but different, people.  That makes the distance a non-issue.

That's not what the OP's first post implies (seems like the same person to me) - but ok I guess.
7/24/2013 1:03 PM
not the original poster's implication - it is words quoted from the coaches corner in which the Texas Tech coach said that WIS let "me keep the DePaul team".  Interesting set of posts.  Guess seble is saying that it isnt a change in policy.
7/24/2013 1:23 PM
well the quotes then.

This doesn't make any sense at all.  If those are really 2 different people, why would aubietom bother arguing about the distance issue?  He'd just point out that he's not coaching both teams and end the debate.  Sounds clear from his posts that he IS coaching both teams..and yet seble suggests otherwise.  Very weird.

Yeah, the posts don't square with seble's response.
