The "Perfect" D3 Center Topic

Name Pos. GPA FG% FT% A SPD REB DE BLK LP PE BH P WE ST DU TOT
Ben Ham C 2.00 50.7 71.2 77 1 62 67 46 42 1 1 11 34 45 37 424

Blue in REB and BLK
Black in ATH and DEF
RED in LP

This guy will become a 85+ ATH, 85+ REB, 75 +DEF, 70+ BLK, 45 LP, B FT shooting center with 1's in SPEED, PERIMETER and BALL HANDLING.

He's like that 7'6 dude on New Mexico St. last year.   I hope he "grows" to like 350 lbs.

This depends a lot on what your "perfect" Center looks like at D3, a level at which I'd argue there are at least two, if not more, ideal types of Centers that coaches look for. (My perfect looks a lot like yours, defense first and then maybe 10 PPG from the ATH and mid-level LP.)

Also, what is his potential stamina? Even assuming it's high, if it only reaches high 60s/low 70s, he won't be nearly as good as he could be.

Perfect is tongue in cheek.   The 1's seem funny to me.

And his stamina is blue.

Reading it again that may have been TJ's intention (okay, it probably was), but I was blinded by the fact that he will actually be pretty close to what I consider "perfect" at the D3 level (I hardly pay attention to speed/perimeter/ball handling for my Cs at D2).

I think that's a heckuva signing at D3.  Had that guy been local to my D2 team, I might have signed him (me likey the defense).  Ham's best fit would be as a C on a 2-3 zone team at D2 or D3.  He wouldn't add much on offense, but he would just clog the paint completely.

His stamina + WE will hold him back, but he's a very nice player. It's a catch 22: Stamina will struggle to climb to starting capable level unless you start him early.

If we are bragging about our centers though, I'm very happy about my future 90+ ATH/DEF 70+ rebounding center. 11 LP be ****ed!

WE under 40. He's a pass no matter what for me. That's my low threshold. Don't look at anybody below it.

If you won't take a guy with that kind of potential and 34 WE you are shooting yourself.  Not in the foot, more like in the face.  40 is an absurdly high floor, especially to be a hard floor.
+1

I would argue the perfect d3 center has 100 in everything.

But i'm a jackass.

I often look for guys with flaws.

I'll search for dudes with STAM under 50 or WE under 10   just to see if I can find someone the masses gloss over.

Every now and then you can land of them guys super cheap.  One of the best guys I ever had was a 13 WE center I signed for $110.

Great player. Does have some flaws though. Stamina is crap and will go up slowly with that WE - even if high high he won't get above 60 or so for a couple of seasons. If it's not high high he may never pass 65. IQs will lag behind with 2.0 GPA and 34 WE. But I'm nitpicking, he's very good.

Was that 13 WE center a guy you could give mins / starts to right away to build up his WE, or was it just a case where his starting values were awesome as-is?

I don't ever look at the stamina of the players I get. I would suppose if you played an up-tempo often, or in the press, you'd like someone who could be a useful player for 20+ minutes and there's a stamina floor. However, since I play the M2M, I don't even look at it.

TJ, you grab guys with WE under 10? I don't go below 30. Funnily enough, a LOT of the guys with many high potential attributes are saddled with low WE. I have a RS every year to give these players a boost.

My ideal D3 C would be very much like that player, but with higher LP.
