After my team committed 40 PFs which lead the Sim team to attempt 58 FTs and we turned the ball over 29 times I have begun to look for answers how this team could perform so poorly. This team is not great and is very young but the volitility that I have seen this season is like nothing I have ever experienced before. So the question i pose is this: are the results the direct result of low IQs or something else?

I had a very similar result a few days ago. We committed 41 fouls and my opponent shot 39/58. However, this game was vs a human and we lost by 6 in OT. My team ranges from A+ to B in IQ excluding freshmen. His IQ's were similar although he has more in the A range. It appears that we both lost to teams with superior IQ's.

That said, it is my opinion that some of the "randomness" in HD creates very similar box scores at times. I have not done any formalized study of this, but my gut tells me that I have read many PBP's and stat sheets that seem nearly identical. I'm not saying that the game repeats itself but there has always been that little cloud of doubt lingering in the back of my brain. The bottom line though is that you cannot determine anything based on a single game. I believe we were both stung by the RNG bug and unless it becomes a trend, it is nothing more than that.
