Louisiana Tech's A.D. calls the opening at the school "the hottest job around."  Of courses, it's the only job opening as well.

Mike White is taking two of his assistants to Florida with him.  The La. Tech players are petitioning for the remaining assistant, Dusty May, to get the job.

The A.D. may, however, be looking for a bigger name.  He said that, in their last hire, they got Michael White, the 2nd assistant at Ole Miss.  He wants to look at head coaches from successful mid-major programs, or top assistants from power schools.

The Bulls are quietly confident that Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg will accept an offer to become their next head coach, according to multiple league sources.

News of mutual interest between Hoiberg, who played for the Bulls for four of his 10 NBA seasons and is a close friend of general manager Gar Forman, and Chicago isn't a surprise. He has close relationships with several people in the Bulls' front office and is well regarded for his success in Ames.

Iowa State's administration is split over the direction to take to name a successor to Fred Hoiberg, multiple sources said.

As we reported on Friday, Iowa State assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger has a "full support" of Cyclones' athletic director Jamie Pollard, but several other sources said school president Dr. Steven Leath wants to hire a "brand name" for the position.

"He feels the level of the job has changed since Fred got here," one source said of Leath. "He wants to bring in someone with some pedigree. It's a battle of wills right now."

Another source told CBSSports.com that Pollard was going to meet with Iowa State's players Tuesday about the best possible way to fill the vacancy.

The Cyclones are a consensus top 10 team for next season and return three All-Big 12 players: Monte MorrisGeorges Niang, and Jameel McKay.
