Anyone knows the value of considering credit Topic

Hey guys, just lost a battle in D1, felt I was going to win it. And when I do the maths, I should of won, but.... I really went on the player after the signing cycle... So how's considering credit playing a factor in a battle?

I use something like 3-5% accrued daily. My data to support this is super flimsy though.

Do you use 3% per day or per cycle or overall?

I had the first team (not mine) on a 115 effort... And the second on a 123 (mine), but I had a B+ to B advantage, which could be close, I could be a low B+, him a high B. So, if I say I got a 10 % more, I'd be at 135...

He needs to catch up... But he was on the recruit and battling from the get go, I got in at the signings so it's a 11 cycle where I get my first efforts in.

You should see if the other coach is willing to sitemail data (how many HVs, CVs used). Then compare to how many you were able to send-that'll give you a much better idea of the value of considering credit and how close you were in prestige to the other school.

He told me 35k. I figured he'd have the best chance sending HV, which is less costly, so I maxed out his possibilities. I spent 50860K on the recruit, I went only CV since it's less costly. He had a HV at 303, I had a CV at 1030. He is B, I am B+.

Unless he spent more than 35 K, which is possible since he had 30k to start with and probably 25k from conference or a bit less, I have no idea why I lose the battle unless it's considering crédits.

So if you do the maths, not really thinking about other possibilities, it's

35k/303, say it's 116 effort.
50860/1030 =123 effort.
Now, I promised a start, he probably did the same, I added minutes, he probably did the same.

But if you add the B+ to B difference in prestige, some told me it could be .22 value, I'd say it's .1 (we seem pretty close in prestige), It goes up.

Maybe I do not use the right numbers.

I use ~4% every 24 hour period. I think considering credit kicks in 24 hours after you initially put in effort

So it would be 4% first day, 4% next day, which would mean,

116 X 0.04 = 121 X 0.04 = 126

So it's close. I think he gets another 4 % next morning... And I got none. So 131.

We need to figure out the value of prestige... Or we were pretty close so it means a win for him at 131 to 123.

It could be considering credit, but it's more likely the difference in prestige is very close. You also appear to be using a 2.5x multiplier for HV to CV. Changing the multiplier also changes the equation. Considering credit probably played a role, but I just wanted to point out the prestige multiplier and the HV to CV conversion are also variables that could play into your calculations.

Tkimble : Do you have numbers? I know in D1, it's really important to be able to evaluate the values of stuff so we do not get into problems while trying to recruit a player.

For the sake of providing an equal comparison, I put in 106 HV at $301/visit and some scouting trips on the front end. I promised minutes the 2nd to last cycle but never promised a starting spot.
5/10/2016 12:48 PM
Here is what I did.

I sent 49 CV at 1030, 10 calls, 10 letters, 1 promised start and promised 10 minutes.

So to me, he is at 106, I am at 123 or close to it if you do not take into account promised starts, considering credit and prestige.

But is this info good,

HV = 1
CV = 2.5

Was there a distance preference by the kid that came into play here? Far from or Near to and the relative distance of the two schools involved that would have maybe nudged the needle slightly as well?
5/10/2016 1:46 PM
He had no preference... I was 10 miles away.
5/10/2016 1:58 PM
It was 20 miles versus 250 miles I think.
