Turnovers were the difference in this game.  If you look at the stats, OSU played very well both offensively and defensively, but turned the ball over just a bit too much.

Incidentally, colorblind79 was just named National Coach of the Year.  I am employing the third person, there, because I wasn't fully responsible for the decisions that guided the team this year...distribution and day-to-day gameplanning were handled by my successor, though I did chip in with some recruiting scouting and an occasional practice minute distribution.

Wow.  Not even close.  I also want to note, in particular, that this is the same Kentucky team that beat me for the services of a Mr. Jessie Cole, SF, who went 1-7 in this game, with 3 turnovers.  Richard Watson, the emergency replacement who became our star in a National Championship year, had a good game both offensively and defensively (as shown by Cole's struggles).

Brothers and Watson are leaving school early, which will leave the Spartans only 2-deep in the frontcourt.  Obviously, we'll have work to do in recruiting.  In the meantime, though...

Hmm, doesn't seem to show potential.  Well, they're all good players with nice potential.

This recruiting class was ranked the 6th best in DI.

Alabama was number 1, and has an average rating, one game in to the regular season, of 821!  Crazy!

Also of note: Silvestri was named a First Team Preseason All American, and Kaczor was named to the Second Team.
Rubin Brothers was a versatile frontcourt player, with a well rounded game and no weaknesses.  He's a good rebounder and a decent scorer, and an actual threat from the outside, yet didn't turn the ball over too much.  Brothers will not be easy to replace, as his skill set is relatively rare.

Oops, didn't post this guy when I had the information on his ranking and potential.  The one big note is that he has average, not high, potential in rebounding, which will limit him.  I think in his other relevant areas, he's got high potential.  Obviously he's a pretty good player in general, and will almost definitely play in the NBA.

I almost cannot believe that I didn't recruit Watson as a SF in the first place.  That average potential in rebounding, combined with his well-rounded skills, made him an ideal candidate for a position switch.  He's a very early entry - hopefully he didn't leave only to be drafted in the 2nd round.  I wish this game allowed coaches to officially make guys change their position, rather than just allowing them to fill in on the depth chart (though I'd still like that feature to be around).
