Won one! At least Bellarmine won't go 0-5 again

Geez bow, I guess extra free-throw practice for Frase and Thompson.  They actually missed.
6/28/2012 10:21 AM
haha.  in fairness my primary ballhandlers/starters are A-, B+, and B and while Wilkey sucks at them, Oakman is also fluctuating in between the B/B- range.  but yes that was a pretty exceptional performance.

HA! The host team is not very good this year. Losing recruiting battles to D1 schools in on key recruits 2 of the last 3 seasons have put a hurt on my team.

I think we'll be decent by the end of the year once a scorer emerges. Right now we're just a defensive unit looking for a scorer.

if it makes you feel better dave we went 1-6 from the line in the first half against longwood and between that and missing 4 tips/layups and 7 more  "short" shots in the first half we pretty much handed longwood the game and could never get back into it.

In Yarnell's game of the night featuring 3 of the 5 players to watch in this season's tournament, Arthur Brown stole the show. After playing the 2 spot all year, he got the call from the 3 spot and scored a season high 36 points where he took 21 shots and made 10. All but 1 were from behind the arc. D Oakman and R Golden didn't disappoint in putting up 18/10 and 16 respectively. The difference was quality vs quantity in that NJT took more shots (58 to 53), but Longwood made more (27 to 23). Longwood forged to a 15 point lead at the half led by A Brown's 17 points. NJ Tech could get no closer than 8 in the 2nd half as A Brown added 19 more.

Except for a one minute span late in the first half, Harding led from start to finish and controlled the entire 2nd half in an upset win on the road at San Antonio. Harding's athleticism and shot-blocking in their Syracuse matchup zone held Incarnate Word to 35% (23-65) shooting from the field and 24% (6-25) from downtown. Facing I-Word's press, Harding made a lineup change in an attempt to cut down on turnovers after averaging 14 turnovers per game and 20 in prior game. This paid off in committing only 12. With both teams pressing, the fouls piled up and it became a game of attrition. 4 players fouled out in all, 3 for I-Word.

In the only competitive game of the evening, Bellarmine used its home court advantage to hang on to a 3 point win over Bowie St. Bellarmine led 74-65 with 4 minutes left and withstood a furious Bowie St rally. A Carnes nailed a 3 with 54 seconds left to cut the margin to 1. Bellarmine worked a play to preseason all-american N Todd and he was fouled with 11 seconds left and nailed 2 FTs. Bellarmine's press forced a turnover but missed 2 clutch FTs with 4 seconds left. Bowie St called a timeout with 2 seconds left, but could only get off a halfcourt shot that missed as time expired. 3 Knight players scored in double figures led by POG J Mattice with 17. 3 Bowie St players also scored in double figures as center J Craig put up a double-double.

Standings
Bellarmine 2-0
Longwood 2-0
Harding 1-1
New Jersey Tech 1-1
Bowie St 0-2

It'd great to defeat Longwood tonight but I'm not too optimistic

Not sure that makes me feel better.
A win in the Yarnell?  That would do the trick.

after my game with greenhawks, I knew I had to make the change.

The crazy thing is it seems the only time I see press teams is in Yarnell or in the NT. Why everyone isn't running press in HD kills me.
