Down to the Round of 32. Heartland had some upsets on both ends.

Lemoyne, a #1 seed, was taken down in a huge upset by OPSU, the #16. However, no Heartland team should ever be given a 16 seed.

#3 N. Alabama was shockingly taken out in the first round by #14 Sonoma St.

#3 Incarnate Word shockingly taken out in the first round by #14 Clark Atlanta.
A third #3 seed Philadelphia got upset also.  The most shocking was Incarnate Word's loss, coming at the hands of a Sim team.  I would have lost my house on that one.
Thanks emy and bunch. I got married yesterday, so It doesn't sting so much.
Congrats Dave.

Awesome, congrats! Don't have a kid though, that will really cut into your HD time (or so my pregnant wife keeps telling me......)

Anyone want to try to make any FF predictions?  We usually have pretty good write-ups with well-educated guesses.  That was always neat to look at, especially going back and seeing how close everyone came to getting it right.
I'll write mine up tomorrow. I usually do a write up for the sweet 16.

I guess "Congrats" are in order then!!  Best wishes to you and your Mrs. on a long, healthy, happy life together.

Wow - completely missed that in this thread! Congrats, dave!!!

Sorry....got very busy yesterday.

Midwest - #1 Longwood 28-4, RPI 1 SOS 1  vs. #2 Missouri St. Louis 27-5 RPI 5 SOS 25

Longwood's got a lot of history and a good amount of depth 9 upperclassmen, but UMSL has 10 upperclassmen and a lot of talent.  I'll refrain from predicting the results of my own game here. We've had the slightly better season, but UMSL has tons of talent.

East - #4 Hillsdale  28-4 RPI 7 SOS 33  vs. #14 Sonoma St.  23-7 RPI 47 SOS 106

Sonoma St's 2nd Cinderella run in 3 seasons most likely stops here. While their tourney coaching should be applauded, Hillsdale just has more talent all across the board. I think Hillsdale takes this by 12.

South  #1 Erksine  29-3  RPI 2 SOS 16  vs. #6 Bentley  26-5  RPI 11 SOS 26

Erksine is the best team in college basketball right now. Their sweep of Longwood most likely proves this. Bentley is no joke as a 6 seed though - they dispached of a very good Seattle team without much of a problem. Bentley will make Erksine sweat, but Erksine wins by 6.

West   #4 St. Mary's TX  24-6  RPI 14 SOS 30  vs. #3 Bellarmine 27-5  RPI 3 SOS 6
If one of the Elite 8 games gets the TV contract for that top-notch ESPN3 slot, it will be this one. Two legendary coaches - this is basically the Kryzewski vs. Izzo of DII.  I'll take the upset here. Bellarmine had to squeak by in a few very close tourney games, and St. Mary's has taken out some excellent teams by 10 or more points. I think St. Mary's gets the upset in a 3 point win.

I agree with bbunch. On April 12, I predicted Longwood, Erskine, LeMoyne and Parkside. So I have 2 still alive.

Hillsdale should handle Sonoma

I never pick my own team (it lessens the disappointment) so I'll go with St Mary's

Thanks all. Just now going back and trying to figure out what happened (on the NT loss, not my "gain").

Clark Atlanta had 5 players go 8 of 10 from deep. They averaged 47 SPD, 44 PER, and 54 BH. I played a 3-2 zone, +1 in the 1st half and +2 in the 2nd half. My 3 seniors on the exterior of the 3-2 were 78 SPD and 79 DEF. So much for 3-2 being an effective perimeter D. One of the worst beats I've ever received.

FINAL FOUR

In the Game of the Century, Mo-St. Louis nipped Longwood 88-87.  They were tied 13 times, with 24 lead changes. Wow!

Hillsdale outscored scrappy  Sonoma 21-9 in the final 4:23 to win 67-55

Erskine broke a 34-34 halftime tie and downed Bentley 71-63

Bellarmine won a hard-fought 56-47 game over St. Mary's, in which the final score was the largest margin of the game.

TONIGHT
Missouri-St. Louis vs. Hillsdale
Erskine vs. Bellarmine

Erskine looks unstoppable and should take care of Bellarmine.   I pick my conference mate, UMSL, to advance over Hillsdale.

Yeah - Mo St. Louis was a very tough team, and I thought it would go down to the wire. Congrats to them. I thought we were a championship level team this season, but so are they, and they could make some noise in the final four.

still trying to make that reverse jinx action work for you, greenhawks?

I've just started to rebuild Grand Canyon in Iba.  Grand Canyon is an A prestige potential school under the right coach.  In a few seasons, I'll try to add to this conversation.

Congrats to mmd for winning the title against a very tough slate of teams.
