What makes you think WIS management has any desire to roll back? I am pretty sure Joe was not the "lone voice in the wilderness" fighting desperately to keep the new code in place.
First of all --- WIS isn't a multi-level corporate structure with numerous reporting entities. In fact, as stated below, it's 6 guys slinging code - so yeah the "lone voice" was a cabel of 6. He's gone so out of the remaining 5 how many were out there saying..."the only way to fix this thing is to rewrite the entire game".
My point is that FoxSports owns WIS - and what FoxSports wants is profits. A mirror-site with the old engine - restarting at Season 1 would generate cash for WIS. Yeah it would take some from the current engine - but who cares. The New Coke drinkers returned to Classic/Old Coke over time --- put a point where Coke-Cola shut down New Coke.
$15/season - no Reward Points - and you would need to buy at least a 5-season pack to get into Season 1:
$75 x 250 = $18750 per world opened
Yeah I know...nothing to get excited about...however it would regenerate some excitement around the entire web site.
btw - I sucked at the old engine and I suck at the new...however the new doesn't have the flexibility as the old..making gameplay not as enjoyable.
