So going into the CC game I felt I had a fairly good shot at making it to the NC game.  I was currently ranked #3 in the nation and I thought I just needed one of the top 2 teams to lose.  Turns out they both lose and I win, yet still drop a spot in the rankings!  I understand SOS plays a role in WIS but the #1 and #2 teams BOTH lost their CC game yet still remained #1 and #2?  Am I the only one that sees a problem with this?

Here in a small breakdown of the top 4 teams according to WIS at the end of the CC games:

School         Record         Opponent  wins        Opponent avg Rank               Avg rank of teams beaten      WIS Rank    SOS
Texas A&m      13-1                             103                                    43.1428                                       52.76                         2         9
Miami (FL)       13-1                             100                                    49.4285                                        56.15                         1        16
Nebraska         13-1                             93                                      49.4285                                        52.76                         3        29
Miami (Oh)       14-0                             96                                      59.2857                                        59.2857                    4        42

You did get jipped I think... but last season my team made the NC and shouldn't have... sometimes it gets it right and sometimes it completely jacks things up

Oh, if only Jim Delaney ran WIS; it'd be conference champions only in the NC game!

You didn't get ripped off.  Your toughest game of the season was against #33 ranked Montana.  You should feel lucky if you get a level 3 bowl with that cupcake schedule!

With that cupcake schedule, you should be fatter than a pig!

Arfy, did you not see the average WIS rankings of opponents that each team beat?  There are less than 7 places seperating us.  I do realize I had an easier schedule but in all fairness it wasn't too much easier.  The only argument that could be made is I didn't have any TOP teams on my schedule but if you say that would it be fair to say their easiest game was against team "x" ranked 118 and mine was against team "y" ranked 107?

really? BS Jipped end of story. You can say what you ever you want but two teams lost he won and was undefeated. Should have made the NC game. But you rig it up anyway you want.

If you are a good mid-major, the best way to get to a NC game is to go undefeated, but you almost need a fairly full conference of human coaches or the dang sim teams will kill your strength of schedule.

Texas A&M played 7 teams ranked higher than your highest ranked opponent.
Nebraska played 6 teams ranked higher than your highest ranked opponent.

Just going undefeated doesn't mean you should play in the NC game.  If anything, Nebraska should be mad that Miami got the nod over them.

Cupcake schedule would only be the term used if you actually think that you are a top ranked team.    If you know that you can't play with the big boys, then you had a pretty competitive schedule.

Now you can't tell me that statement is not fair.

It's a BCS world and we all live in it.

I'm the coach of the Texas A&M that backed into the NC game and I agree that teams who lose their CC game should not be allowed into the NC game unless there is just NOBODY else worthy. However, a mid-major that never faced even one top-25 team doesn't deserve a shot either.

Let's compare the teams in the top 8. Texas A&M beat 6 teams ranked higher than 33. Miami (FLA) beat 3, Nebraska beat 5, LSU beat 5, Oklahoma beat 4, Florida St beat 4, and Michigan beat 4 teams ranked higher than 33. Miami (OH) beat 0 teams ranked higher than 33.  All losses suffered by the other 7 teams in the top 8 were to teams ranked 20th or better.

I personally think Nebraska should've taken my place in the NC game. In the Big XII, OU beat Nebraska, A&M beat OU, and Nebraska then beat A&M in the CC game. In my opinoin, since Nebraska's loss to OU was so long ago and they went on to beat A&M in the CC game, they should head to the NC game. It's obvious that one of us belongs in the NC game; I just think WIS chose the wrong one.

I can't say for certain who the other team should be in the NC game, butit should definitely be one that's proven already that it is capable of beating top-tier competition.

When I was at Florida State in Leahy quite a few seasons back, they let a undefeated Boise State team into the NC game against me.  I destroyed him and Livemike still won't let me forget about it, calling it "not a real"  championship.
