I agree mackey, you got jobbed. imo you should be NC game bound.

For all of us that have kicked sand in your face over your coaching ability we need to tip our cap to you. Here's mine. I wonder how many of these chest thumpers on here will do the same?

DePaul is a tough road to hoe.

I love how your Dime defense shuts down the run. Been trying to figure that one out.

I have toyed with developing a 5-2 defense against the pass, but it is too difficult to recruit the DL and DB's I need for that to be a success. Maybe one day though.

The Dime always shuts down the run.......at least in Conte's POJ engine!
Congrats on a level 5 bowl, mackey. If you wouldn't have had but one sim to play OOC, you just may have snuck in to the title game.

For those that think you didn't get screwed, which I do think you got hosed, how about LSU?  They beat the number 1 team who still gets to play in the NC and then finished 4th.  The number 2 spot should have been yours and if not should have been LSUs.  I never did like they way NC is done in real life and this mimics it.

both you and drejay deserved to play in the NC game at least as much as I did.

Thanks Jason. And no hard feelings are directed at you. Your team had a great season except one game.  This is only about the calculations.

Second message from support:

No, the timing of the game does not affect the rankings.

This means that a loss in the CC game is the same as losing your first game of the season, with location being the same.

I think the SOS calcs are a little too skewed in favor of average SOS as opposed to placing greater weight on big wins (top 10 teams for example) and less weight on the crappy opponents.   Up to the CC the SOS rankings just absolutely loved me.  I think I had a 0.05 rating or something and a few point lead over everyone.

What happened to you Mackey is no different than what has been happening in the past. A team playing in the YOST title game in three of the last four seasons  either didn't win their conference title game or didn't even play for the conference title. I'm an average coach at best but after playing both Florida and Michigan this season, there's no doubt to me that both belong in the title game, especially Florida. Jason's offensive output, except in CC title game, was rid. this season.

i wonder how many ac scouts it took to get to this level of success...

Latest response from support. Any other questions for them?

1. There is no bump for an undefeated season other than just a better outcome for not having any losses.
2. Coaches and Press use basically the same factors but weight them a little differently.

We did a little clean up work on SOS a couple updates ago, but the whole ranking process is something we really want to review and revamp. After the engine update, with the addition of position role formulas, we should be able to tap in to some better player and team evaluations. This should allow us to work on a better ranking system, but that most likely won't happen until some time after the update.

What are the factors that Coaches and Press use apart from win% and SOS?  Good to have some actual proof that the mythical undefeated bump is nonsense
