1. Johnny Manziel
2. Mantei Te'o
3. Collin Klein
Hookem--Tell the real reason---Cause he's an Aggie.
No Manziel is phenomenal and if he has another great season I think he is very deserving next year, I have never really been a fan of giving it to an underclassman he should have another crack or two at the thing
It is a single season award, not a lifetime achievement. It used to be that you could always find a senior (or if he was really special, a junior) who had as phenomenal a season as any freshman or sophomore. Given the chance, the voters would pick the guy who had been around longer. All was right and just.
No doubt, this year would have been Trent Richardson's year behind that offensive line or Andrew Luck's coronation as one of the best college QBs ever. But they didn't stay. Because so many talented players don't stick around for their senior seasons, the tradition of considering only upperclassmen really no longer applies.
Given what he means to his football team, I think Te'o is worthy of this award. But I think Manziel also deserves the award whether he is a redshirt freshman or not. He did the work. He had the season.
