mark it down, Alabama versus TXAM second week of the season.  It should be an instant classic, and my money is on Alabama getting revenge
technically, it is the 3rd weekend of the season... Alabama has a bye week on the 2nd weekend.  Alabama has 8 months to get ready for Virginia Tech and 2 weeks to get ready for Texas A&M.  They play the easiest schedule (or so it is assumed right now) in the SEC and get another bye week just before LSU.

Alabama will be in the National Championship game next year.  Who will step up and meet them?

(of course, USC was talking that **** last year and look where they ended up.  Difference of course is that the Trojans have a coach who can't coach)

I respectfully disagree with Bama being put in next years NC already, cyd... I can see them losing 2 or 3...

what is the point with that question?

he is running a beast of a program at alabama.  not very likely any coach could win a national title in football at a school that isn't traditionally a powerhouse program.  saban said it best, in college you can gain advantages.  this isn't college basketball or college baseball where mid majors or lower level majors can compete for the national title.  there is a reason the national title has only been won in college football by the major programs over the last 50 years with only a couple of exeptions (BYU, GATech, Colorado).  But at the time Colorado was one of the stronger programs in the country.

I believe if anyone could turn losers like Kentucky, Purdue, Vanderbilt or Minnesota around it would be Saban.

If he was given 6-7 seasons without threat of firing he would have these teams on the thresh hold of being among the strongest programs in the country.

But its all conjecture since he isn't headed anywhere.

Only at a school where they allow oversigning and are willing to let the coaching staff chase off 10+ players a season to make the roster limit.
