Seems kinda limited, is it due to a data capacity & roster limit issue?
4/18/2014 11:52 AM
I always wondered about that.  I personally think that 5 (10% of the roster) would be a better limit.

It is like everything else in this game --- a half assed idea that is not thoroughly planned out.

Why do you think their is a limit...because you know it would be real fair to have a class of 50 RS SRs

Whats the NCAA average? If the average class is 12 players, redshirting 3 of them is 25% of the class. Seems reasonable enough without any research into real life statistics.

We have been trying to get WIS to change the # of red shirts for years , not seasons , but like every thing else. They don't listen.

Did you actually think this through ... I mean actually comprehend the utter stupidity of what you typed?

I think it's fine where it is - it forces you to make hard decisions on which players you want to give your RS to. Expanding it would make that decision easier, and then we have half the FR classes being RS, which is ridiculous. If WIS eventually expands the rosters, then it would make sense to expand RS by an equal proportion.

I agree with this. You actually have 12 RS on the squad. As long as everyone has the same rules - what does it matter? If everyone had more, everyone's teams would be better and there would be no real advantage anyway.

more options to manage roster = better.  I agree the limit on redshirts is nonsensical.  Not everyone would decide to use their redshirts the same way or in the same classes.  There still would be plenty of variation from team to team.

I think that a limit of 3 (or some hard limit), is a very good idea. I absolutely do not share the outrage expressed by some in this thread :)
