I won't argue that a stigma of  being gay exists.    I just don't think this is a "fight" as it's not well-supported.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, your "rights" are determined by the powers that be.   If they say it's not your "right", it isn't.

How many hippies have been carted off to jail screaming "I KNOW MY RIGHTS!!!"?
5/14/2013 3:29 PM
So, whatever the law says is right? Good to know.

Sometimes it's better to not go to jail than insist on how right you are.

We'll disagree on the fight aspect.

I understand.  I'll rephrase.  I believe marriage to any other man or woman should be a right.  We will disagree on this as well.

But there are restrictions on which man/woman you can marry, right?
5/14/2013 4:12 PM
Yes.  And as I argued before, there should be.  I've argued some of the restrictions on marriage should be lifted.  The opposite sex one.

I believe marijuana should be legal.  I don't know about cocaine.  I'm asking that some restrictions on drugs be lifted.

Are there? If so, are those reasons arbitrary or is there a purpose?

Then this is kinda bullshit, right?  "I believe marriage to any other man or woman should be a right."

Didn't take you long to recant that.

You don't like the purpose of restricting SSM.    You've stated as much, many times, over the last 155 pages.  So don't ask me what it is.   Go back and read.

Why does anything have to be so specific with you?

I believe marriage to any other man or woman, 18 years or older, should be a right, as long as both parties are competent human beings who are making this decision with their free will, are not related, and are not already married.

Better?
5/14/2013 4:25 PM
Just pointing out that there are already restrictions, ones that you agree with, in place.    You just don't agree with one specific restriction.    Just clarifying that you aren't all "As long as they're happy" as you make it sound.

What does that even mean???

You said marriage is restricted in other ways. I asked how and why?

Here's an example:

You can't marry a seven year old. Why? Children (with some exceptions) can't contract. It's presumed by the law that they don't have the ability to navigate adult decisions. The purpose of this law is to protect children.

Your turn

Gays can't get married. Why?_____________. The purpose of this law is to__________.

You can't fill those blanks in because an answer doesn't exist.

Do you retain anything?  Or do you just work so hard at being a dick that you pretend you can't recall any previous comments?
